country84
Hello. As a dedicated Emule user i usually got brainwashed by friends claiming Utorrent is alot better. i normally ignore them, but recently i decided to give it a try. at the beginning it did worked fast, but a day after all of the downloads went slow, dead slow. clicking the "update tracker" option brought nothing, so sadly i returned to Emule-at least there i got the "Super Source Finder" feature that does help alot..if there was anything similar to that Emule feature in Utorrent it was great, because the only option i know currently is to manually seek the internet for more trackers.. of course if i'm wrong i'll be extremely happy to hear about methods, tricks or tools to do it !!Thank's! country84
Right.. so i took all the tips and advices, including all the steps to boost the DL rate, still haven't found an answer to my question in the guides though..Is there's a way to find additional sources to my already downloading files? perhaps a more specific guide or discussion? thanks and sorry to bother! DreadWingKnight
Connecting to additional sources doesn't help in torrents the same way it does in emule. You can't think of bittorrent as a protocol that's anything even close to what emule runs for the simple fact that it isn't. Switeck
It's better to fix connectivity issues (being firewalled, using a hostile ISP for internet access) than attempting to get more peer/seed connections indirectly by doing more tracker updates OR adding a bunch of tracker URLs that probably won't help. Manual tracker updates should only rarely be needed ...such as if you have intermittent connectivity issues and just reconnected. If other trackers are even tracking the same torrent, they likely have the SAME peer/seed ips as the "main" tracker/s do.If the torrent is a public one, enabling DHT AND Peer Exchange may help. country84
Oh, ok.. thanks for the explanation. I just thought that it might be the reason it all goes slow, because i really don't know what else could be wrong. I tried to download only popular files, made sure the port's open in the router menu, and fixed Utorrent preferences as suggested.. how can emule download fast but Utorrent wouldn't? What else may cause slow DL rate?
Switeck
Your ISP may be more effective at throttling/disrupting BitTorrent than E-mule.Your uTorrent settings may not match your connection's real capabilities...causing overloads. The torrents you're on may be fakes, poisoned, or simply lacking peers+seeds. Some software firewalls screw over uTorrent's performance even when you get a green light in uTorrent. Oxwil
And besides that, even if there are seeds & peers listed, you may not be connected to them (the number outside the bracket is how many you are connected to, & the number inside the bracket is the total number of seeders/peers available) or their uploading bandwidth is limited. Switeck
"the number inside the bracket is the total number of seeders/peers available"Actually, the number inside the bracket is the total number of peers (or seeds, depending on which column you're looking at) that all sources have SEEN recently. Some may be disconnected, firewalled, and/or changing ips every few minutes (and thus being double-counted).
