panicfreek
I have been using utorrent for a long time. Recently move to a new laptop with Vista Home Pre 64. Whenever I attempt to download something Vista restarts itself. However, utorrent is uploading fine. Whenever I attempt to download something, vista re-boots again. Ports are forwarded properly, set u torrent to single core, use AVG as a virus scan, 6.0 dls line,. Don't know what else to say. Switeck
What do you mean by download? adding a new torrent? uncapping the download rate? What do you mean by restart? soft restart or a hard reboot? Can you create new files in the download dir (with notepad for example)? panicfreek
i have finished torrents on my hard drive..i can download those torrents again and seed, but when I attempt to download anything new, doesn't matter where from, computer does a hard re-boot.Not familiar with the third statement. Utorrent is currently seeding fine just can't download anything new with out issue
Greg Hazel
So you can delete the seeding files, and remove the torrents from uTorrent, and re-add them, and download the file just fine? What if you copy the files out of the way (but do not delete them)? How long after adding a new torrent does the system reboot? How much free drive space do you have? Switeck
Try disabling auto-rebooting on BSoDs in windows...might help to know WHAT is actually triggering the crash.
panicfreek
I can download the file from the torrent tracker. Utorrent checks to see what of the file is there and will seed the file (I have been unchecking to download anything because it will just hardboot), new file will download for a minute or two maybe before the hardboot. Missed the other post ....can you tell me how to do that? I never see a BSOD...screen just goes black
Greg Hazel
Are you using sparse files?

Greg Hazel
Ok, then you're probably not. How much free space do you have? Have you run scandisk?

Greg Hazel
Can you download large files with a webbrowser to the same directory? You could also try disabling the Windows cache bypass:Options > Preferences > Advanced > Disk Cacheuncheck the bottom two "Disable Windows caching of disk ..." checkboxes. Switeck
To disable auto-rebooting on BSoDs...Since I don't have that version of windows...I can only suggest right-clicking on my computer on desktop, choosing System, then advanced settings...or some such nonsense. ...Or Control Panel > System > Advanced Settings.
