Xinthose
Quick question, I have a 100 mbps connection, and when I download something I want it to download at the fastest speed possible, buy by having say 5 other torrents seeding in the background, would that slow down my download speed? I'm saying this because I don't mind having everything I have seeding, but if it slows down my download speed, then I won't do that. Thanx. Switeck
If you're on ComCast, you almost certainly don't have a 100 megabit/sec down or up connection.Find out what you do have, especially on the UPLOAD side....2nd link in my signature once you do. SoboLAN
uTorrent tends to use all available bandwidth. If you upload with maximum speed, then your download speed will slow down a bit.The solution to this is to set a global upload speed limit. Optimum value is usually 80% of theoretical upload speed. For example, if you have 500 KB/s upload speed, then limit it to (80 * 500) / 100 = 400 KB/s.Hope this helps. Good luck.
Zarggg
While SoboLAN's "rule of thumb" is usually good, keep in mind that transfer rates are generally expressed in BITS rather than BYTES. One byte is equal to eight bits.
Switeck
However it takes MORE than 8 bits to transfer 1 BYTE of data. A network packet has overhead costs that probably pushes the "cost" somewhere between 8.5 and 10 bits per BYTE of data sent.
