Strange limit set

I'm out in Japan and could always get great upload and download speeds until recently there seems to be a strange cap set. I did nothing myself but it seems I'm stuck at dl:200kbs ul:40kbs.

I'm a huge noob so any kind of simple advice would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

up limit: 12.0 kB/s upload slots: 100

connections (per-torrent): 200 connections (global): 200

Max active torrents: 20 max active downloads: 15

I don't touch the advanced settings because I don't know what's going on in there. any help you can offer is MOST appreciated.

100 upload slots PER torrent...and up to 20 active torrents at once?!

...Yet only 12 KiloBYTES/second total upload speed.

You seriously HATE whoever is trying to download from you. :(

TOTAL upload slots (which is number of active torrents times upload slots per torrent) should *NEVER* exceed the upload speed...and ideally it should only be about 1/3 to 1/5th the upload speed! (Or even less if only seeding on very fast lines.)

So long as your upload is so terribly low, this is what I recommend:

up limit: 12.0 kB/s upload slots: 3

connections (per-torrent): 30 connections (global): 30

Max active torrents: 1 max active downloads: 1

I need to know more about your connection...

type? (ADSL, Cable, fiber optics, wireless, other?)

Speed down and up from speed tests.

How fast can you download at best from a website?

It may not be just Torrents that are "crippled"!

Its a 50mbs ADSL. In the most recent set of speed tests I took averaged d:1045 u:134. I don't usually have a problem downloading from sites and I often use megaupload and rapidshare. The computer slows down quite a bit though.

If it's 50 megabit/sec download max, your line is certainly *NOT* ADSL!

VDSL 2+ (a vaguely similar technology) is possible though.

"speed tests I took averaged d:1045 u:134."

This in kilobit/sec? (HORRIBLY SLOW!)
