GTHK
Are you using the McAfee?Start > perfmon > Monitoring Tools, Reliability Monitor. Does that happen to show anything? Is the lappy overheating?
wil421
Yes I am using McAfee, I am not sure how to interpret the data on perfmon.Thank youOh yes and the laptop isnt overheating, sometimes bittorrent will take 5 mins to crash and other time it will take an hour or so. I have noticed the problem occurs if the computer display shuts off or when the screen save comes on and I am prompted with the login screen. So I have removed both of these setting (display timeout and screen saver) and it still crashes when I return to my computer.
GTHK
Actually using McAfee or is it expired/unused?Perfom will sometimes show when/what problems have occurred, try poking through it. Any other symptoms?
wil421
I do use McAfee and it has not expired the problem occured the first day I got the computer so I don't think malware or a virus is the issue just something to do with vista. yea I looked through some of the logs in perfom and nothing showed up except windows not shutting down properly due to me holding the power button. Could this be because I am running the 64 bit version of Vista, I know a lot of other programs have trouble running on a 64 bit OS. My old computer uses McAfee and it doesnt seem to interfere with BitTorrent.UPDATE: I have done a full system scan with McAffe (definitions are up to date) and I have also update all my drivers software and the Vista 64bit SP2
