Illuminatus1379
So, I recently moved back up to school. I tried port-forwarding manually and through a program called "PFConfig." However, I was unsuccessful since those both assume that you're using a private/home router. Short of making a friend in my school's IT department, how can I port-foward properly on my school's network? The below image is my speed test:
DreadWingKnight
You can't.
Illuminatus1379
Wow, that sucks. So I'm stuck with < 3.0kB/s speeds...
Switeck
Even firewalled, if that's the ONLY problem, you should get good speeds both down and up!
Illuminatus1379
So, assuming it is just the school's firewall, how would I bypass that?
Switeck
Use a different route to the internet that doesn't pass through that choke-point.
Illuminatus1379
I'm rather ignorant about most of this stuff, Switeck...But I suppose what you're saying is to get another ISP completely? Or are there ways to bypass the firewall while still using the school's network?Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable in this area.
Switeck
Yes, a new ISP shouldn't pass through that choke-point.It is unlikely there's a way to avoid the choke-point if you're using the school's network.
AtheneCKM28
I have the same situation, and get an average of 35.6 mb/s... something like that... I'm really bad with the technical stuff! When I try to dL stuff, it downloads @ 3-30, which is insanely slow. I checked and my port is closed. 1)what does that mean? 2) Can I? 3) How could I do that, if I can? Does the port being closed account for the low download rate?
