Lucifer Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 First time seeding using utorrent. Created the torrent with utorrent and uploaded it to Demonoid tracker. Starts seeding but after more than 2 hours, the peers still haven't received a single byte even though it shows i've uploaded more than 150MB.You can see the completion percentage is zero for all peers. Also tried Super Seeding mode since i'm the only seeder in the swarm but still the same. Wonder if there's anything i can do to correct this, thanks.Using the latest beta (419) by the way.
Falcon4 Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 Maybe it's just that god hates you. Super seeding seems to be a totally worthless function. I tried it on LAN torrents and it just ruins everything...I've noticed that the completion percentage isn't always up to date. While seeding a 4gb torrent to another computer on the LAN, I noticed it said the client's percentage was only about 17%, when the torrent was really almost completed. Not sure what the problem is there... maybe someone else can shed some light on this? But if it says you've uploaded 150mb, you'd oughtta believe that. Is it still sending data (ignoring the 0% on the clients) - that is, upload speed?
Lucifer Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 lol, God definitely hates me then. I tried both normal and super seeding but no progress. And i think i'm uploading since the tracker also records it. Thus, my ratio on Demonoid is now 13:39 while the ratio for the torrent is 93.928
Firon Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 Have you tried turning on peer.lazy_bitfield?
Lucifer Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 Yes but nothing changed so i disabled it again.Forgot to mention that i've seeded with BitComet before so i don't think my ISP is the problem.
Firon Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 You have to restart the torrent after turning it on, I think. And your ISP sounds really familiar for some reason, and I'm not sure why...
Lucifer Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 Not just the torrent but i also reboot my pc and modem just to be sure, so i guess that's not it either. My ISP is TMNET Streamyx, does it have compatibility issue with utorrent?
Falcon4 Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 Using the latest beta (419) by the way.Ooh, there's a new beta? *downloads* Thanks for telling me! =D[/offtopic]
Firon Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 I do believe that Streamyx throttles anyone on the 60.x range, and also gives very low speeds in general on that range...
Lucifer Posted February 8, 2006 Author Report Posted February 8, 2006 Streamyx throttles port 6881 to 6890 so we just avoid using these ports. I get max download & upload speed using utorrent, the problem is i don't understand why i'm not sending data to the peers. If this isn't a bug, guess i'll just have to seed using BitComet, sigh.
Firon Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 The weird thing is that your screenshot says it's uploading though, and is in fact sending data...I think they don't show anything because you have lazy bitfield on, and you show up as a peer for them. They don't send HAVEs to peers (to save badnwidth)
Lucifer Posted February 8, 2006 Author Report Posted February 8, 2006 I only enabled lazy bitfield after an hour of seeding but disabled it afterwards. Does utorrent not send HAVEs by default?Anyway, my torrent has been removed by Demonoid staff since people complain that i'm cheating my ratio when i'm not.In case you didn't notice this thread, it's quite similar to my problem. The differences are he's using computer as a tracker and no peers connected at all.http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=5899
Falcon4 Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Perhaps all the paranoid starting and stopping, rebooting, switching settings, etc. made people suspicious? That's bull though... a torrent shouldn't be removed because people suspect ratio cheating. That's no reason to remove a whole torrent. You oughtta question that, take it up with staff there or something... >.<
EndsOfTime Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 And I thought that I was the only one....Yep none of those work and I'm also tryin to seed on Demonoid...I've reported this before too.Anyway, I only managed to seed with a newly created torrent by using some other cilents (e.g. Azureus and BitComet) but I love uTorrent...what's a guy gonna do?Strange thing is I never had problems with trying to seed on someone else's file.
Lucifer Posted February 9, 2006 Author Report Posted February 9, 2006 I haven't tried other trackers but i suspect Demonoid being incompatible with utorrent. EndsOfTime, have you tried other trackers?Beta 420 enhanced super seeding so i'll try to experiment with this for a while.
ironboyzz Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I also have been having problems seeding and end up using Az to seed. Not on Demonoid but a couple of private trackers...connectivity problems. Not using SS. Right I'm seeding one with 29 peers(6 not connectable) waiting and max 12 peers seen connected and took them forever to connect up.I end up starting seed with Az and after first seed comes back to µT.On b419!
Lucifer Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 I end up starting seed with Az and after first seed comes back to µT.On b419!lol, way too troublesome.Tried seeding with beta 421 but still the same, didn't notice any difference with super seeding enabled either.
EndsOfTime Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I haven't tried other trackers but i suspect Demonoid being incompatible with utorrent. EndsOfTime, have you tried other trackers?Beta 420 enhanced super seeding so i'll try to experiment with this for a while.Well I can't really say for sure. But I had this prob on BitMe too.I have nothing to upload at the moment so I can't verify on other trackers, yet. Will post any new findings because I really want this resolved. Sticking with the best cilent is enough for me.
ijustlie Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 using latest azureus utorrent peers usually only update on connect or reconnectmakes me want to kick ban them all
Firon Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Why does it matter? It's a bandwidth saving feature, and you seeing the % completed has no purpose anyway.
