juniorx Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 I currently use bitcomet 0.61 which has encryption. It worked for like a month but now im getting 1-2KB download/upload. Will the new utorrent encyption be more effective? Also, anyone here actually have Rogers HSI in Canada and used the new utorrent beta. Rogers have bascally destroyed my internet experience as most companies(including Blizzard) use BT to distribute files.
Vectorferret Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 µTorrent's encryption has been reported to work with Rogers using Enabled and allowing Incoming Connections. It wasn't completely 100% of non-shaped traffic, but that is most likely because there are few encryption enabled peers at the moment to work with. As soon as more peers start supporting encryption, it's likely to go back up. (µTorrent/Azureus encryption is still in Beta, and not in a final release client.)
Allied Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 I was a BitComet user before I found uTorrent. And my ISP is Rogers.Encryption on or off, I'd get the same speeds.Don't get me wrong, I hate Rogers. They ended their Usenet access. All I'm saying is, Rogers doesn't always throttle BitTorrent.
linsook Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 well it takes time to implement allied. they have been experimenting with traffic shaping as early as summer 05 (when i first heard of it) where many were starting to get affected, the topic of trafic shaping on rogers has come up as early as late 03/04. i got hit in october of 05, rest assued, all areas will have traffic shaping. but lucky there are ports which are not affected for now, 1720 1755, 5100 etc..
Firon Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Rogers only throttles some areas, and the port tricks don't work in many areas anymore.
linsook Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 i'll cross my figners and hope they stay away from my ports.
Ultima Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 @Allied: Does the torrent you're testing have a lot of µTorrent v1.4.1 beta users? If not, then that might also explain the slow speeds.
