Tommynospam Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 When you choose a port, is the port number updated to the tracker as well? In other words, it isn't a static value in the .torrent file? The reason I ask is because I had a problem with uTorrent working on 6960 which is where Vuze runs just fine (and, no, I wasn't running them at the same time). When I told uTorrent to select a random port (uPNP updated the router), my seeds started uploading.
Switeck Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 The tracker is only informed of your port change when the next tracker update occurs, which are typically spaced 30 minutes or 1 hour apart. The .torrent file contains NO information about your port, ip address...OR any other peer/seed ip+port (besides special HTTP web seeds).
DreadWingKnight Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Actually, when the download completes, the trackers are announced to immediately.
