apaseall
Hi,Been a happy user of uTorrent for sometime. Just got round to installing a new software firewall.Having a problem getting the green circle of connectivity goodness Turn off the software firewall and tada green circle.Turn on and yellow triangle.Software firewall Kerio WinRoute.Read the articles about uTorrent and firewalls.I came away with the opinion that my software firewall should:1. Allow TCP in on port set in uTorrent,2. Allow TCP out for a wide range of ports,3. Allow UDP in on a range of ports,4. Allow UDP out on port set in uTorrent.Looking at the log for the software firewall I see 'dropped' packets originating from the interface to the internet. These 'dropped' packets have port numbers in the range of 1076-1269.Using a program called cport from http://www.nirsoft.net I see that those ports are associated with uTorrent.So...I currently think that I cannot get the green circle because uTorrent is trying to communicate using ports that are currently closed by my software firewall. I seem to have missed the help doc or faqs that tell me to open those ports.I have the text logs if anyone needs them. Can anyone help with Kerio WinRoute Firewall and uTorrent please ? DreadWingKnight
I currently think that you are mistakenly assuming that outbound communication is actually supposed to be incoming.
apaseall
I am not entirely sure what you mean, could you clarify / expand on your comment please.
DreadWingKnight
The port specified in uTorrents preferences is ONLY for connections made from outside peers to you. Connections from you to outside peers and from you to the tracker are made on ports controlled by your operating system.
