Shagmelon Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 faster speeds after stopped then started. Sorry if this is a redundant post, but my status is green and I've been just having bad download speeds. Whenever I minimize the client the DL drops to virtually nothing. I have to bring it back up, stop the torrent, then start it, then I'm getting around 150 down but just for a couple minutes or so. I'm working with ATT yahoo dsl in United states. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.
Switeck Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Are you using wireless or USB between your computer and modem? Are peers/seeds regularly disconnecting? Is your uTorrent v1.8.4 build 16667? (numerous bugs with that one, should be a replacement in a day or 2!)
Shagmelon Posted September 28, 2009 Author Report Posted September 28, 2009 Peers and seeds have been (EX. Seeds 0 (13) peers 0 (1) ) on a torrent I'm uploading, then, (Seeds 2 (7) Peers 1 (19) )on a torrent I'm downloading)) unmoving, I am connected to my modem's wireless signal. I also face the same problem when I plug computer straight into modem with ethernet cable. And yes I am using uTorrent v1.8.4 build 16667. Also, don't know if this matters but when connected ethernet to modem, My port forwarding if fine and I am in the green, couldn't figure out how to do this with wireless. I'm starting to wonder if maybe, with the isp I have is it possible that once it's recognizing so much bandwidth is going to this certain thing, that they could be limiting the bandwidth to that particular process.
Switeck Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 ADSL Modems don't HAVE wireless signals unless they're modem + wireless router combo boxes. ...And those have a can of worms packed inside another can of worms. Does this same low download speed occur with the test torrents (mentioned in 1st link of my signature)?
Shagmelon Posted September 28, 2009 Author Report Posted September 28, 2009 I did do that test and it said the ISp isn't limiting downloads. But yeah, the modem is a modem slash wireless router, a 2 wire. Hope this helps at all.
Switeck Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 There's been quite a few posts here lately about 2wire modem-routers, and it hasn't been nice.Either you'll need to use settings reductions talked about in 1st link in my signature, or you'll have to get a better modem.
Shagmelon Posted September 28, 2009 Author Report Posted September 28, 2009 1000 yikes of sadness. I will try your link later today, thank you.
Switeck Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Do a search or 2 for other posts with 2wire routers/modems here as well.
