Bl0ndey
Hi guys, i'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to networking so go easy on me I've just moved into student accomodation and was wandering if it's possible to use UTorrent here. In order to gain access to the internet you have to go to the local area network properties and enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, change your computer's name to your username in the uni's systems, then (under LAN options in IE) use an automatic configuration script at an http address ending in "proxy.pac".Obviously this just lets you view web pages with your browser, does anyone know if there's a way to configure UTorrent in the same way? Thanks in advance
moogly
You are likely firewalled and your univeristy throttles BT. And you surely can't access to the router to forward a port.
Bl0ndey
I've actually just managed to get the proxy address and open port number itself out of the .pac, and gotten Digsby to sign in by connecting through an http proxy of that address and port, but the same doesn't seem to work for UTorrent. Could this be because the uni is blocking ("throttling"?) torrents?
Switeck
If you have to connect to a special proxy to even web surf, then BitTorrent/uTorrent is almost certainly blocked by default.
