gTangoto Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hello all, I've currently got a pretty weird problem with uTorrent. Nearly everytime when I close it (via right click, exit and such), the next time I open it it reverts back to a previous state. For example, torrents that I specifically stopped would still be seeding or downloading and torrents that I recently began downloading were no longer downloading, as if the program had forgotten about it. Also, recently finished downloaded torrents were no longer in the downloaded or finished list.It gets pretty annoying, as I pretty much always schedule uTorrent to download something early in the morning, and when it forgets downloads it just opens and does nothing but seeds torrents tat should have been stopped.Any help?I've tried deleting appdata, reintalling and yet nothing has changed.
AloMatty Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Sounds very bizarre, I'm no expert on the matter but perhaps your using Vista? If so I would put my money on Utorrent not having permissions to write to the file which it saves this data to (Or that file has somehow become read-only), But I may be completely wrong. And no, I don't know where such a file is located, Or even if it exists. This assumption is a pure guess.
moogly Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Sounds like resume.dat/settings.dat are corrupt (folder %appdata%\utorrent) or you don't save them when you quit uT (so your history and settings are lost). How many resume.* and settings.* have you in this folder?
gTangoto Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 Well in "Appdata/Roaming/uTorrent", I've got one resume.dat and one settings.dat, but along with those I've also got resume.dat.old and settings.dat.old etc. Thanks for the replies btw.
moogly Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 And what are the read/write rights on these files?
gTangoto Posted October 15, 2009 Author Report Posted October 15, 2009 It's not read only and permissions are set such that admins and system have pretty much full control, except for "special permissions".
moogly Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 And what's the last modification date/hour of resume.dat and settings.dat? Is it the same one when you have quit uT for the last time?
