Per torrent peer limits

It would be nice to be able to set a peer limit per torrent from right click menu.

This might help solve problems of important but stingy torrents getting higher download speeds, to avoid a dreaded 11w ETA...

Increasing the total limit on all torrents will just marginalize that stingy download even more, and it's not really feasible to stop all other downloads for that estimated 'shorter' 4w ETA!

Set your important torrent to HIGH priority.

Use LOW priority on the other torrents, set their upload slots to 1, and if you must also set their upload limit to 1 KiloBYTE/second. You're being rather unfair to others when you do this, so it's best to just stop such torrents if you're going to do this for more than an hour or 2.

If your total sustainable upload speed is 30 KiloBYTES/second, that means 10 total upload slots.

Were they split evenly, that's 3 active torrents with 3 upload slots each or 2 active torrents with 5 upload slots each.

Calculate how many upload slots TOTAL you can have (spread between all your active torrents) so that each can get at least 3 KiloBYTES/second. Any less, and your download speeds will likely suffer on any torrent that doesn't have more seeds than peers.

Higher per torrent limits often do not help, especially on torrents lacking seeds! If you're connected to too many peers, you won't be able to upload consistently to all of them...and they will slowly start to ignore you and upload NOTHING back! So try reducing per torrent peer limits to about 5-20 more than your upload slots per torrent.

Upload slots per torrent sets ALL torrents to that many upload slots.

...Unless you manually set each one's upload slots to something different.

(This feature has been around since practically the beginning of uTorrent!)

I think you are confusing two entirely different things; the amount of upload slots per torrent, vs the upload speed limit per torrent. Yes the upload speed can be capped per individual torrent. The amount of upload slots, not. So this confusion leads to some strange, unactionable advice in above messages.

However to waltz back to my original topic, I'd still like some more powerful tools for increasing the priority of a single torrent out of many, than just the High bandwidth option. I thought increasing the number of peers for this single torrent could be such. Maybe I am mistaken, or some more powerful alternatives could be found.
