uTorrent Mac 0.9.3 doesn't save preference on PPC Mac

Yes I have tried repairing disk permissions. I have also tried with deleting "settings.dat" and "settings.dat.old" from "Application Support/uTorrent" folder.

This is something that doesn't work since official support for PPC. I have reported this problem also for uTorrent 0.9.2 and I saw that few other people reported this for their PPC Macs, so it 's not only me.

Greeetings,

Zoran

I love the app as far as it's features and download speed, ease of use....but I've yet to see any version of it that would save preferences on my PPC. I download everything to one of several external drives and have to specify that in the settings every time I open it.

Also using 10.5.8 and utorrent 0.9.3 (17226)

Same for me with 0.9.3.4 (18887) on a ppc mac running 10.5.8. It keeps other preferences, but not the download directories.

I'm not sure if this is relevant since there is a settings.dat file, but here is a (slightly massaged) view from running the shell command: defaults read com.bittorrent.uTorrent

I see nothing in there related to storing directory preferences, just references to where it keeps track of the last directories visited. I confirmed these results against the contents of physical plist file ~/Library/Preferences/com.bittorrent.uTorrent.plist as well.

Here is the system.log from starting up utorrent:

No log messages appear when I attempt to change the download directory.

I checked permissions and then verified by doing "find ~/Library -not -user <my username>" to reveal all files not owned by me.

Running strings on the settings.dat file does show settings for "dir_active_download" and "dir_autoload" and those values are set to the directories that I've chosen. Despite having the correct values, when I start utorrent, those particular settings are ignored.

Let me know if there's any other helpful info I can provide.

settings.dat is a bencoded file that µTorrent stores connection settings in. com.bittorrent.utorrent.plist only holds mac-specific settings.

The console output is over a leak, not something related to settings not being saved. Or not finding some specific images (which is harmless, even if it is also irritating).

G5 here too. Had this problem as long as I've been using uTorrent. Makes the Downloads folder default which is really annoying, since that's on my OS drive and not a storage volume. 0.9.3.5

I'm also getting horribly fluctuating speeds + that weird decimal place error, but that's for another thread..
