zorro23 Posted October 19, 2009 Report Share Posted October 19, 2009 uTorrent 0.9.3 still doesn't save preferences on PPC Mac.I'm using uTorrent 0.9.3 (build 16930) on G4 PPC, OS X 10.5.8. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
theron Posted October 20, 2009 Report Share Posted October 20, 2009 I'll check this out.Have you tried repairing your disk permissions? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
zorro23 Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Share Posted October 20, 2009 Yes I have tried repairing disk permissions. I have also tried with deleting "settings.dat" and "settings.dat.old" from "Application Support/uTorrent" folder.This is something that doesn't work since official support for PPC. I have reported this problem also for uTorrent 0.9.2 and I saw that few other people reported this for their PPC Macs, so it 's not only me.Greeetings,Zoran Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

J0hnS Posted November 17, 2009 Report Share Posted November 17, 2009 I love the app as far as it's features and download speed, ease of use....but I've yet to see any version of it that would save preferences on my PPC. I download everything to one of several external drives and have to specify that in the settings every time I open it.Also using 10.5.8 and utorrent 0.9.3 (17226) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
zorro23 Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 13, 2009 Still doesn't work in version 0.9.3 (17496). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
slardea Posted March 22, 2010 Report Share Posted March 22, 2010 Not working for me with µTorrent 0.9.3.2. I have to reset preferences in Downloads each time I run the app. uTorrent insists upon using the Downloads folder on my startup disk but I use an external hard drive for capturing all downloads. ohmantics Posted March 26, 2010 Report Share Posted March 26, 2010 I see the same on PPC on 10.5.8 with µTorrent 0.9.3.2 (18641). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
AHinMaine Posted April 7, 2010 Report Share Posted April 7, 2010 Same for me with 0.9.3.4 (18887) on a ppc mac running 10.5.8. It keeps other preferences, but not the download directories.I'm not sure if this is relevant since there is a settings.dat file, but here is a (slightly massaged) view from running the shell command: defaults read com.bittorrent.uTorrent{ AutoTrashTorrentFiles = 1; LastSelectedPref = DownloadSettings; NSNavLastCurrentDirectory = "~/Downloads/Torrents"; NSNavLastRootDirectory = "~/Downloads"; NSNavPanelExpandedSizeForOpenMode = "{794, 773}"; NSNavSidebarWidth = 120; "NSSplitView Subview Frames mainSplitView" = ( "0.000000, 0.000000, 200.000000, 756.000000, NO", "201.000000, 0.000000, 959.000000, 756.000000, NO" ); "NSTableView Columns torrentsTableView" = ( [snipped] ); "NSTableView Columns trackersTableView" = ( [snipped] ); "NSTableView Hidden Columns torrentsTableView" = ( [snipped] ); "NSTableView Hidden Columns trackersTableView" = ( [snipped] ); "NSTableView Sort Ordering torrentsTableView" = ( ); "NSTableView Sort Ordering trackersTableView" = ( ); "NSWindow Frame MessageLog" = "218 136 480 292 0 0 1280 1002 "; "NSWindow Frame Preferences" = "289 830 540 172 0 0 1280 1002 "; "NSWindow Frame mainWindow" = "18 175 1160 801 0 0 1280 1002 "; SULastCheckTime = 2010-04-07 08:33:36 -0400; SULastProfileSubmissionDate = 2010-04-05 09:08:42 -0400; SUSendProfileInfo = 1; SeedRatioCopy = 1500; SidebarSelection = 1; WebKitDefaultFontSize = 11; WebKitStandardFont = "Lucida Grande"; detailViewHeight = 315; infoPaneVisible = 1; "mainSplitView.position" = 200; savedSplitterPosition = 440; selectedInfoTab = 2;}I see nothing in there related to storing directory preferences, just references to where it keeps track of the last directories visited. I confirmed these results against the contents of physical plist file ~/Library/Preferences/com.bittorrent.uTorrent.plist as well.Here is the system.log from starting up utorrent:Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50a590 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcde30 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50af70 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcde54 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50ca40 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcde80 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50c5e0 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcdeac 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50ca60 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcded8 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50ca80 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcdefc 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x50c510 of class NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking\nStack: (0x95304dac 0x95231e14 0xcdf20 0x8fe13834 0x8fe0f248 0x8fe0f36c 0x8fe03848 0x8fe08144 0x8fe01774 0x8fe01048)Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: Could not find image named 'SplitViewGrabber'.Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: Could not find image named 'HideStats'.Apr 7 08:50:59 powermac uTorrent[5214]: Could not find image named 'ShowStats.tiff'.Apr 7 08:51:00 powermac uTorrent[5214]: **** Posting Msg: BitTorrent_TorrentFileAdded ****Apr 7 08:51:02 powermac uTorrent[5214]: *** _networkReachabilityChangedCallback got flags: -r----- Apr 7 08:51:02 powermac uTorrent[5214]: networkReachabilityDidChange: NSConcreteNotification 0x17f385b0 {name = BitTorrentNetworkReachabilityDidChangeNotification; object = 1}No log messages appear when I attempt to change the download directory.I checked permissions and then verified by doing "find ~/Library -not -user <my username>" to reveal all files not owned by me.Running strings on the settings.dat file does show settings for "dir_active_download" and "dir_autoload" and those values are set to the directories that I've chosen. Despite having the correct values, when I start utorrent, those particular settings are ignored.Let me know if there's any other helpful info I can provide. NoOneButMe Posted April 9, 2010 Report Share Posted April 9, 2010 settings.dat is a bencoded file that µTorrent stores connection settings in. com.bittorrent.utorrent.plist only holds mac-specific settings.The console output is over a leak, not something related to settings not being saved. Or not finding some specific images (which is harmless, even if it is also irritating). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
kidhack Posted April 10, 2010 Report Share Posted April 10, 2010 Got the same issue. G5, used to save preferences / settings and now it doesn't. Deleted all settings and application support files, but nothing seems to help. PLEASE PLEASE FIX! (or just remove the preferences and stop teasing us!) Scalawag Posted April 11, 2010 Report Share Posted April 11, 2010 G5 here too. Had this problem as long as I've been using uTorrent. Makes the Downloads folder default which is really annoying, since that's on my OS drive and not a storage volume. 0.9.3.5I'm also getting horribly fluctuating speeds + that weird decimal place error, but that's for another thread.. brennanyoung Posted May 16, 2010 Report Share Posted May 16, 2010 Just downloaded the latest - Version 0.9.3.10 (19343) - and even though on first run it had once again 'forgotten' my settings, I quit and reran the program and voilà! It seems to be fixed now. Thanks! (PPC G4, non-startup volume used for downloads) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Firon Posted May 17, 2010 Report Share Posted May 17, 2010 Yeah, all old PPC settings files were completely broken, so it throws them away and starts fresh. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
