alphakry
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bitU-Torrent: 1.8.4 build 16688I have a workstation as part of a domain. A folder on this workstation is shared for domain users. Permission to the folder is given in the two following ways:1. Sharing Tab -> Share.. -> Add Domain User Accounts -> Each given Read Permission level2. Security Tab -> Add Domain User Accounts -> Each given standard read permissionsAny files in this folder using this method is are shared and visible to all permissioned users. However any new download that uTorrent puts into this folder has some type of restriction on it. A lock icon is placed on the newly download file and the Security Tab only lists the local accounts.uTorrent downloads are downloaded into a temporary folder and then moved to this shared folder after the download has completed.I am unsure if this is a Win7 or uTorrent error but it appears to only be happening to my uTorrent downloads. Any suggestions?
Firon
I'm fairly certain it's because µTorrent MOVES the files. Security permissions aren't inherited from the parent when you move files.
alphakry
hmm - i can't believe i didn't think about that. you are correct that it is moving a folder from a non-permissioned area to a permissioned area. i'm surely going to try that now. thanks! DorkFish
Holy cow, thanks! I've had this problem for ages.I had always assumed that newly downloaded files were somehow "missing" their security information.I just gave "Everyone" read permissions to my uTorrent TEMP folder, and problem solved.
