Vagrant
I have a bunch of computers on different ISPs, on different ISPs, linked by a VPN. I'd like a way to have uT on each of these computers cooperate to make maximum use of available bandwidth. My implementation concept would be for cooperating nodes to coordinate on piece requests in order to prevent different nodes from grabbing the same piece. Cooperating nodes would exchange pieces on a low priority basis when bandwidth is not being used to talk to other nodes in the swarm. Piece exchanges between cooperating nodes would not be subject to choking. Once the cooperating nodes had a complete copy between them, they would drop all communications with the swarm at large, transfer any outstanding pieces between themselves using all available bandwidth, then go into seed mode. Falcon4
Whoa. You are TOTALLY gonna have to talk to Firon or Ludde about that (Firon you can talk to here, and will probably reply, but Ludde... he's too busy actually coding the progam! )... that's deep. Ultima
I think it's been requested before... must dig up thread...
splintax
I can't see µTorrent ever being able to do something like this. You could always just add the computers to each other's peerlists using Add Peer, but that wouldn't give you what you want, I suspect. Firon
Yeah, i recall something like this being request before, but I'm not gonna look it up
chaosblade
You're basically asking for a new BT protocol, as far as i can see.
Ultima
Heh I tried but couldn't find it... Oh well, if Firon and I remember it, then it was undoubtedly requested before. I've got mixed feelings about such a feature, so I won't really state an opinion =P
