sbbamafan1
I have Windows Vista Home with Trendnet TEW-639GR Router. My ISP is Charter Communications and I am using their modem, Ambit U10C018. I also have Norton 360. I have done everything that I know to do including:- Set up static internal IP- Confirm IP is being utilized- Select a port to use outside of DHCP range.- Turn off Windows Firewall- Forward port in Norton (Settings, Firewall, Traffic Rules, enable)- Forward port in router (It is enabled)No matter what, the icon at the bottom of Utorrent is red and says "Listen Error - You should change the listen port".I have changed the port numerous times. I have rebooted numerous times. BUT IT IS STILL THE SAME!I am able to download torrents but it is slow, about 2kbs to 200 kbs (on rare occasion) . I just did a speed test and I am at 18.14 Mbps download and 1.93 Mbps upload.I appreciate your help but I am going a bit crazy with this!!
GTHK
Listen port error = firewall program interference or another program using the port, give the random button a go. Is your modem just a modem? Seems like it, but I only did a quick search.- Select a port to use outside of DHCP range. You pick an IP ADDRESS outside your DHCP range, not port..I also have Norton 360.You'd be doing your computer a huge favor if you used this... http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
sbbamafan1
GTHK - yes - I mistyped port. It should have said IP address. Sorry. Are you saying I should remove Norton 360? What do you recommend instead?
GTHK
A router acts as a firewall already, but if you want a software firewall, the only one I can recommend in good taste is COMODO. I wouldn't use their AV.
jowunger
sbbamafan1 did you try disabling norton 360 and check whether it works?
GTHK
Disabling a firewall isn't enough, many simply block applications silently.
