Eskimo BoB
My torrents use to work no problem, but then the port kept closing on me after a few minutes of downloading. I did speed tests and set my upload limit to what the guide said. Ports no longer close on me now, but the speed is a measly 10 KB/s.Windows Vista x64Linksys WRT54G v8ISP: Tera-byte wireless (WiFi) 5 MBPS down, 1.5 MBPS up according to speedtest.netWindows firewallAvast-free antivirus.Everything is set to allow Utorrent. I have a static IP outside the DHCP range. I tested if my ISP throttles bitorrent, and it came back negative. Utorrent settings are defaults for the most part (havent touched the advanced setting).I am at a loss here.
Switeck
Your WiFi's rules probably will cripple your line or kick you off the service were you to sustain >50 KB/sec upload speed. So try the 512 kbit/sec upload settings OR LOWER from my speed guide (2nd link in my signature).Encryption-wise, you might get better results doing this:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=46778You may have a very low monthly bandwidth limit as well! Eskimo BoB
I have it set to 140 KB/s upload, and dropping it lower didn't change anything. The icon on the bottom of the window is green.
Switeck
If you can't sustain 140 KB/sec upload speed much of the time, reduce upload anyway.Use very conservative connection limits -- maybe even only 50.
Eskimo BoB
The thing is no matter what I set it to, it always stays around 10 KB/s. If I put it to unlimited it will go up to like 300 KB/s then the port will close. I also noticed another weird problem, with Utorrent running I cannot sign into xbox live on my 360.I have an unlimited monthly bandwidth also. I can do direct downloads off of websites and it will sustain a 300+ KB/s speed without any problems.
Switeck
So BOTH download and upload speed in uTorrent is stuck at 10 KB/sec or less?
Eskimo BoB
Download is at like 10 KB/s...upload is even worse, if there is an upload at all (the average it gives me on my current torrent is 1.6 KB/s)
Switeck
1st link in my signature, slow speed section. If that doesn't help, chances are your ISP is messing with BitTorrent traffic even if Glasnost tests say otherwise. (There is stuff it misses.)
