:COOKIE: in the URI magic

Recommended Posts

Just wondering... that magic suffix :COOKIE:(<key>=<value>;)+ on the URL, is that just a hack or is there some kind of standard that describes passing cookies via the URL? (kind of like "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" for form data)

It's not a standard, no. As far as I know, µTorrent simply parses the string, strips out the cookie data, and uses it as part of the connection to the server (probably with something like InternetSetCookie).
