bitorrent 6.3 not responding (Vista)

I've tried hard to fix this but I just can't find what the problem is, please help.

(Note that I have a similar problem with uTorrent 1.8.5) !!!!

I use:

- Windows Firewall, configured to allow bitorrent

- NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller

- No router, I have a ADSL gateway 2 wire 2701HG (2Wire.com) configured to allow bitorrent

What happens:

I click right on a torrent file and select "start", the status change to "downloading" and then the program hangs.

The program will also hang when I run the speed guide port forward test but the test passes sucessfully.

uTorrent is very unstable on my machine and I have to restart all the time so I gave up on it, I do my test with bitorrent now.

I don't see this program in your log but if it's really installed on your computer, that's the cause:

NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller

It's known as a buggy program (internal firewall) with p2p clients.

all I have is the process list is the nvvsvc.exe NVidia driver helper service V175.16 but I don't think this is the problem, I killed it but I see no change. Any other information I should provide to help, at this point I don't know what to do.

Ok, I renamed the farlsp.dll and bitorrent doesn't hang anymore and it even tries to download. The thing is that I have no access to the Internet anymore and I had to put it back (I think I read a post mentionning that very same behavior). I don't know why bitorrent is loading that dll, what are my options ?

That's probably a remain of this firewall. Honesty you should delete completely this program.

Are you sure this DLL didn't come from a program of your ISP? Some ISP provide firewalls and connection managers.

I don't know what is the origin of the file farlsp.dll i.e. what program installed it, I am trying to find the answer.

Thank you very much for your help, this one was tough. I solve the problem as mentioned by hecookaz in another post. I used LspFix (http://www.spychecker.com/program/lspfix.html), it repairs winsocket problems.

I don't know how I got the dll but now bitorrent works just fine.

Yeah, renaming an LSP file or deleting it without removing it from the chain breaks the chain and thus Internet access. Next time uninstall the corresponding program first to see if it handles it for ya, and if the chain breaks you use lspfix like you did (or on WinXP and up the netsh winsock reset command).
