Emmortal Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I've just installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and loaded up utorrent, but it seems the ports aren't being mapped on my router through UPNP. This was working fine on XP before the upgrade, only change is the operating system and firewall version.I've confirmed all the settings are correct in utorrent.Network Discovery is turned on in the control panel.Router: WRT54G with HyperWRT 2.1b1 firmware - UPNP is enabled on the routerFirewall: Comodo Firewall - added utorrent as trusted applicationOS: Windows 7 Ultimate X64Windows Firewall: DisabledAny other info you need let me know. Would love to get this figured out. Thanks,C
psyphy Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 I too would like info about this subject. Seems like µTorrent isn't even attempting to configure the ports with uPnP. In XP µTorrent logger said something about ports being configured with uPnP, in windows 7, the only log I'm getting is[2009-11-15 20:55:19] IPv6 is installed[2009-11-15 20:55:19] Got Teredo Address: 2001:0:d5c7:a2d6:eb:fbea:a465:c01eNothing about uPnP, settings are identical to what they were in XP.
Ultima Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 O_oThis is probably silly, but have you tried disabling UPnP, restarting µTorrent, and re-enabling it?
psyphy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Actually that wasn't silly at all. I disabled upnp and nat-pmp.. restarted my router. And the damn thing works. How very strange. Thank you for the quick reply.
Ultima Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Hah, cool. Maybe it was a settings corruption. Not sure how that might've happened, but so long as it's fixable with a simple toggle, good enough
Emmortal Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 Thanks guys, as soon as you mentioned restarting the router I realized I hadn't. Once I did that and restarted utorrent +re-enabled UPNP it mapped the ports. Guess I had just figured it was a Windows 7 issue.
tokash Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Thank you Ultima for the suggestion. I too was scratching my head at why utorrent was reporting the port closed after I had everything properly configured in Windows Firewall and my router. I was also almost thinking it was Windows 7 since I just had it installed. But toggling those settings and restarting utorrent did the trick for me too.
