Aerodynamic Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Hi,I'd like to run different instances of the client using the /RECOVER option via command line. However in order to do so, I need to specify different listening ports for each of them.So I've made two different dirs with the executables, with two different "settings.dat" files and then I tried to manually modify the port numbers in these files, which is specified in the form: :bind_porti31540e16:All I need to do seem to vary the 5 digit number between "porti" and "e16" in the proper range, save the file and start the client. However this doesn't work, because port still randoms when opening uTorrent.Any ideas about how can I fix this issue?Note:found a similar problem here: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=57643 but unfortunately I can't use older versions of the client as workaround.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Why aren't you just changing the listen ports in the preferences when they are running instead?
Aerodynamic Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Hi DreadWingKnight, thanks for the reply. However I cannot set each port manually from the GUI because I'll have many instances running and the manual setting will be rather unfeasible.EDIT:Ok, my bad, finally I've tried another editor (Ghex in particular) and everything went smoothly.
Firon Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 You need to remove the fileguard key. It's a checksum of the settings file.Use Ultima's bencode editor instead of a hex editor.
Aerodynamic Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 Hi Firon, thanks for the useful suggestion, I'll try that editor too.
