tokenizer
I'm using a wireless connection with a usb modem. My ISP is Sun broadband (currently reside in the Philippines). I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and have been encountering problems forwarding my ports. I do not use a router and am only using Windows firewall. I already configured Windows firewall to allow utorrent. When I had Windows XP I did not encounter this problem at all, the utorrent indicator was always green (had a different ISP before, Desinty Cable internet). Now it stays at yellow or sometimes red.I went to this website http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php to check if my ISP was throttling bittorrent traffic and after the test results were that my ISP was not throttling. Been trying to solve this problem for almost two weeks. I also noticed something different now that I have this wireless internet usb as compared to my cable internet connection previously; when i check my ipconfig:Sun Broadband (wireless)IPv4 Address: 10.150.16.110Subnet Mask : 255..255.255.255Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0When I had my cable internet I remember clearly that my default gateway was not just 0.0.0.0. Does this have any bearing on my current problem and what does it mean if the deafult gateway is all 0's?Just in case.... here's a hijackthis logfile:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 2:36:33 PM, on 11/26/2009Platform: Unknown Windows (WinNT 6.01.3504)MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.7600.16385)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\Program Files (x86)\Sun Broadband Wireless\Sun Broadband Wireless.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Ultima
So... your ISP is a wireless provider? If so, then there's nothing you can do about forwarding the port, as wireless ISPs don't hand out real WAN IP addresses to users, and the wireless ISP is the one handling the ports from their end. tokenizer
So there's really no way that the status indicator in utorrent will turn green? i sometimes get speeds of 40kBps-70kBps, but that's if the seeders are good. so you think i didn't have a problem before because my ISP was a wired connection to my LAN? Ultima
Well, it's a bit more than just "think" -- unless a wired ISP goes out of its way to not assign some kind of WAN IP to you, or the ISP gives you some kind of gimped network hardware, then you will be able to forward the port using a wired ISP.
