Pelks
My problem is I am seeding many torrents, but when I am seeding, the download rate is far too high. Adding up all the download connections of the seeding torrents is far less than I am downloading?eg. Uploading at 30kB/s but downloading is 15kB/s??I am using Utorrent v1.8.3 and Windows 7Anyone have any Ideas?
Tomtom25
There are connection overheads associated with the transfer protocol's utorrent uses. At the moment, i'm only seeding, at 10kb/s, but there is 2kb/s download traffic. In your case though, It does seem a bit high. What's your connection speed? Switeck
Do you have RSS feeds active?DHT enabled?net.calc_overhead enabled in advanced settings?
Pelks
I have a 5mb/s connection to my ISP .I dont use RSS feeds and DHT is disabled. The net.calc_overhead is disabled (false). Thanks for the reply's.
Switeck
New peer/seed connections being made also uses download and upload. So, what sort of incoming and outgoing connection rate do you have (as shown by Logger window/tab)?Have you changed anything in advanced settings? Pelks
I haven't changed anything in the advanced settings. Not sure what you mean by the logger windows tab!!
Switeck
You don't see Files, Speed, Logger in uTorrent near the middle? What encryption settings are you using?
BlueDragon
Adding up all the download connections of the seeding torrents is far less than I am downloading? And so it should be IMO... A part of your download speed will necessarily be associated with the seeding (upload) activity and I guess you download (data) faster than you upload it... Pelks
I have noticed something interesting, looks like the download rate stays fairly constant at around 14-17kB/s when I am seeding and regardless of the upload rate. I have protocol encryption enabled and allow incoming legacy connections is ticked. Both Upload and download limits are set to unlimited.at the moment I have 17kB/s upload and 14.9kB/s download rate.Seeding 80 files. BlueDragon
Well well well... :/ Did I read correctly?... Seeding 80 files (I guess you actually mean torrents) with a total upload rate of 17 Kb/s... let me calculate this... in average 0.2125 Kb/s per torrent left. You must be a valuable seeder for the community ! According to my personal experience (without encryption) it takes about 5% of the "opposite" activity e.g. if you upload 10 Kb/s you (must) "download" 0.5 Kb/s (sort of overhead) and vice versa. If you upload more or less the same amount than you download (as you stated) being a seeder or a leech there's definitely something wrong somewhere.I think you should detail properly what you are talking about... (Seeding does not mean actively seeding and file /= torrent ! )
Pelks
Sorry, I did mean torrents, and not files.Obviously I'm not actively seeding all the torrents at once, possibly 10-15 at a time maybe. All add up to about 3-5kB/s download rate at any one time. Switeck
Each active torrent should get at least 2 KB/sec PER upload slot it uses.So if you have 3 upload slots per torrent, then just 3 active torrents would need 18 KB/sec total upload speed.Almost nobody wants to download slower than that, especially when piece sizes are 1, 2, or 4 MB. Pelks
Does anyone really understand what is happening here? The download rate is fairly constant irrespective how many torrents I seed!!Has It anything to do with Windows 7? as I have not had this problem before. Switeck
Does the problem go away when using uTorrent v1.8.5 or even v2.0 beta?Did you check F7 for semi-active torrents?
Pelks
Loaded v.1.8.5 and there is no change.Has it anything to do with "svchost.exe" running in the background?
Switeck
High cpu activity or memory use for "svchost.exe" can be a sign of a virus/trojan deep-linked into the OS.
Pelks
Have Scanned My PC for Trojans and Viruses and found nothing. Now my Download speed has gone up to over 22kB/s!! while seeding.Found out that a friend has recently installed Windows 7 and he has same problem. Is it Windows 7? Switeck
Others on Windows 7 have not noticed any problems.
Pelks
I downloaded a small program called Netlimiter 3 Pro, and found that one of the svchost processors is responsible for the extra download throughput. There seems to be many IP addresses under that process and traced one to a small town in the USA which seems to be using a Microsoft server. When I block that process and IP's, the download rate goes back to normal speed. The tricky thing now is how to stop it from loading when windows starts up!!Anyone has any idea's on how to do this. DreadWingKnight
That's IPv6 teredo traffic actually. You probably shouldn't be blocking it.

Pelks
Looks like it was IPv6 Toredo traffic causing the downloading.I disabled it, and all is well. Thanks everyone for all your replies.
Greg Hazel
Pelks: Can you re-enabled Teredo, seed only one torrent, and send a screenshot of the peer list sorted by highest download first? Thanks!
