xlr82xs Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I'm trying to create a torrent of a directory that is currently 43.4 GB (46,691,832,774 bytes) containing in excess of 41,000 files (spread through more than 1000 sub directories) and while I'm aware of the "this will take upwards of 30 minutes" thing, uTorrent goes through the torrent file creation step, and then freezes just before the dialog asking where you want to save the torrent file would normally be displayed.Does anyone have any thoughts on what I can do to stop this, or of an alternate torrent creation method ? (I've tried a couple of other torrent clients to see if it was uTorrent specific, and DID manage to get it to build (after 2-3 attempts) using the vanilla bittorrent client, but meh i like uTorrent)EDIT : This is the "Steam" directory if anyone is interested, I've been using torrenting as an updating method within the store as a replacement for the discontinued "Steam for Cafes / Cafe Access Client" program, but now that I've added a couple of new games (God they made a mess of the file layout for their new zombie game) I'm getting the crashing issue.I know I could probably split it into a few torrents.and I know that uTorrent isn't a syncing method (although honestly it IS the best one i've seen short of setting up a linux or bsd machine to do rsync with).
DreadWingKnight Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 if it freezes, it may be something on your system causing the freeze, although it might not.As for your rsync thing, you don't need linux/bsd, as cwrsync will work on windows.
