Port forwarding problem with Netgear WPN824v2

As the title says im using a Netgear WPN824v2 router. i have a wireless internet connection. I followed all the port forwarding directions on portforward.com and thought i had it right until i checked to see if the port was open through utorrent. It wasn't, and my download speeds are the same as they've always been (around 150 kB/s). I recently used a friends internet connection while staying at his house and got speeds up to 900 kB/s, and i want to get speeds like that again. Utorrent shows a green check, but as i said before if i check to see if the port is open an error comes up saying that it is not. I use windows firewall and i have already made an exception for utorrent. any help would be greatly appreciated, i'm extremely frustrated and have been trying to get this to work for weeks. thanks in advance.

If uTorrent gets a green check circle at bottom, it's probably not firewalled.

Have you tried configuring your modem?
