SirConfused Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 First off, I know that it's a beta and I should just switch back to the stable but that's part of my problem unfortunately; see below. After updating to Beta 2.0(17539) fairly recently uTorrentHandler stopped working for no particular reason, I didn't have the time to look into it then but now I have started to I found that the old handler I was using has been replaced by 'uTorrent Adder' which I downloaded, tried and it also failed to work.At this point I thought it may be an issue with the webui so I downloaded and tried both the latest testing version and the latest stable version too. Neither of those have made a difference, for some reason the webui just doesn't respond to adding new torrents, I have to manually open the torrents from the server that utorrent is running on (via vnc).I should mention at this point that the server is running ubuntu and utorrent is obviously running under wine.Next I tried downgrading to the latest stable utorrent which was when I had problems. When I initially installed utorrent (about 15 months ago) on the server the installer worked fine and I have upgraded it through the app's self-upgrade system ever since then, but when I tried to just dump the stable .exe in to the install folder I kept getting the install dialog. Whenever I try and go through the dialog it gets to the end, finishes, and then disappears, leaving a 'utorrent.exe' process running which just waits and does nothing at all. I waited 5+ mins to see if it did anything, killed it and tried again a couple of times with the same result.I've run out of ideas on how to downgrade or even fix this problem and manually transferring/starting torrents is tedious .Any help would be greatly appreciated.
DreadWingKnight Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 What wine version are you using?
SirConfused Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Posted December 13, 2009 Wine version 1.0.1 (latest stable)
DreadWingKnight Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 All our fixes are for latest development (1.1.34 as of this writing).
SirConfused Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Posted December 13, 2009 Ok, I'll give the new wine a try and see if that helps. I just don't understand why the new utorrent would break things in such a subtle way?Update: new wine installed and sorted, exactly the same problem with no changes. Any suggestions?
