lafours2002 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 I searched for an answer, but I couldn't find anything relating to what my problems are. Now I could very well not be using the right search terms. If this is the wrong place for this post, please move or delete it. What changes need to be made with the WebUI files to use a different search within WebUI? I do not want to use Mininova and would like to change it to another search option. Also, how do I start a download? I have tried saving the .torrent file and adding it that way. But that hasn't worked. I've also tried using a url for the torrent and that didn't work either. In the logger I get this error "JS error: [1] missing ) in parenthetical". I renamed the file to have no special characters, but no luck. What am I doing wrong?
Lord Alderaan Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Try deleteing the webui.zip and letting utorrent grab the latest one. Or try the WIP version.
lafours2002 Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 So deleting the webui.zip and letting uTorrent grab the newest one didn't fix my search problem. But that's really not a big deal now. I was able to successfully add a torrent. And now when instead of the "JS error: [1] missing ) in parenthetical" error, I get "JS error: [1] missing } in XML expression". What does the error mean? And should I just ignore it, or does it need to be fixed?
lafours2002 Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 I'm using Firefox and Windows 7.Now that I am able to get downloads to work, I am not worried about changing the default search. And since the error does not seem to be causing me any problems, as far as I am concerned, this thread can be deleted.
Ultima Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Hrm. Other users have reported this same issue before, but it hasn't been clear what causes the error you're seeing. Does it happen with another browser, like Opera or Google Chrome, or even Internet Explorer?
lafours2002 Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 I will have to try it and get back to you. I rarely use IE, and do not have Chrome and Opera installed.
Ultima Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Alright, nevermind... I found the cause of the error message. Indeed, it wasn't a showstopper -- at worst, it prevented .torrent file adding errors from being reported. It'll be fixed in a future release of WebUI.
lafours2002 Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 Thank you for looking into the issue.
j1paque Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I know this is a very old post, but i don't think the main question didn't get answered. I am looking to change the search options in webui. In the client, it is fine, it saves correctly. In webui, i change the setting, but it goes back to the default when i restart the browser. Can this be changed? I am now on webui 0.380Thanks!
j1paque Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Ahh. Thanks so much!! Is the current build pretty stable? I use uTorrent via my WHS (Mediasmart Server). I use the pretty straight forward functions. Copy torrent to the "watched" folder where uTorrent automatically picks them up. When complete, it is moved. And they seed until 110% Obviously i use it via webui 97% of the time.Should it be fairly safe to give 3.0 a try?If troubled, can i simply uninstall 3.0 and go back to 2.2?Thanks again for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
Ultima Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 3.0 is usable, but we can't make any guarantees about stability as long as it's still in testing phase. That said, it should be okay to upgrade. There may be some settings that are interpreted differently between 3.0 and 2.2 though, so I'm not sure how wise it'd be to repeatedly switch between the two. For example, the scheduler table is stored differently, so that might get corrupted if you upgrade to 3.0 and switch back to 2.2.You can always backup settings.dat in Win+R > %appdata%\uTorrent.
