drewsky Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Hi,A few minutes ago, I finally decided to upgrade my uTorrent app on my mac.The upgrade was successful, however, I lost all my data in the process includingdownloads in progress (a lot!).I think this might have occurred because when uTorrent moved all the old contents into the trash, I have a program that asks me if I want to move all associated content as well to the trash.I answered ok thinking that it was just the application itself and not all the torrents associated with it.How can I fix this? Everything still remains as I've yet to empty the recycle bin.EDIT: So basically what I need to know is "where to drag these items back to". It's a folder named "uTorrent" and it contains tons of torrent files alone. Thanks in advance for your help!drewsky
DreadWingKnight Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 with uTorrent not running, just choose the restore option from your trash bin.
drewsky Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 That's just it...there is no restore option.
DreadWingKnight Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 the macos trash bin won't let you right/command-click and restore the files?
Sova Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Needed files for proper uTorrent work is located under ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent/ - there should be main files resume.dat and settings.dat. Resume.dat needed to store all current informatinon regarding your torrents (path etc). settings is setting of program. There are .torrent files also in this directory - all torrents that was added to program. you could try to restore all files to this path (mainly resume.dat and torrents files)
drewsky Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 Sova, the files you talk about...plus all torrents that were ever added to the program are in the "uTorrent" folder (which is in the trash at the moment). Should I just drag the folder back into the destination you provided or just the contents of the uTorrent folder?EDIT: Ahhhh, I just dragged it all back into the destination you provided. IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!CHEERS!!!
