lavinrac
Alright just got this program last night and well. If i must say it is very good at what it does. My only problem is that once i get to right around 200kB/s it tells me disk overloaded and drops me to right around 30kB/s. If you can tell me why it does that and how i can change it please let me know if you need system specks just ask and i can give them to you. Thanks in advance. Other than that GREAT JOB!! ludde
Hi, do you have write caching turned off for your drive? If yes, you'll get poor performance from uTorrent.
True
I was getting this to a network drive. Problem wasn't uTorrent, just an overly congested network. If caching wasn't disabled, Is the target a local drive?
rjsoz
I got a "Disk Overloaded" status last night for a few seconds.... what does it actually mean (what is uTorrent trying to do that causes the status)?Just interested...
ludde
It means it's downloading faster than it's writing to disk.. if that state continues memory usage will grow to infinite after a while./Ludde
lavinrac
Sorry about the slow response ended up leaving for work Out of town. I left the system defaults up upgraded to the new one and the only cache i see is flush system cache, which is checked. The drive i am saving to and uploading from is a local drive. Only seen it happen once since the patch and only when i pass over 250KB/s since the update. I have been past that point again i think it was 340KB/s up and 49Kb/s down but that was one time ive been up there that it hasnt happened. it has to be on the down side since i can hold steady at 49 down with no problems. i only get it when i start dling at the same time with a descent speed to it. FreeBaseBuzz
Do you have any other process that are doing heavy disk access? Any sort of scan, search, or file copy? I get this warning when getting fantastic download speeds while copying files elsewhere or searching the disk for content.. If I kill the search, the "disk overloaded" goes away. (Of course, I have a crap system )
Toolskyn
Maybe your Hard Disk just isn't fast enough. How old is your system? Because Hard Disks of the last 3-4 years should get write speeds of multiple MB/s easy. If your Hard Disk isn't this old try this tool and check if other programs next to uTorrent make alot of write/read actions. If another program does, try exiting it.Also if you got an old virus scanner from norton you should watch out. The 2002-pre versions of norton are known to be very very slow in progressing information. Try disabling your antivirus for a while. And off course dont use to many programs at once. No packing/unpacking with winrar/winzip etc at the same time you are using uTorrent
lavinrac
Ok well i ran the DiskMon updated utorrent, no problems yet. even with everything running no disk activity. that is utorrent not running either. Havent seen the problem yet so hopefully itll stop occuring. As for the system it aint slow and its pretty up to date. i think 6 months old... all of it.i know that is old in the computer world but hey i cant afford what i want right now either. Thanks for all your advice on fixing the problem hopefully it is solved for good.
