shirleyanneruss
i have been told by a torrent site that i should uninstall my 1 8 5 utorrent(which i love to death) and install the older version to use a torrent site(thebox) from filehippo. they have told me there are no other possibilities for using their site. HELP!!!!
DreadWingKnight
Tell them that you're taking your traffic elsewhere. We don't support buggy, security hole-laden versions.
shirleyanneruss
have done so, but i would like to investigate them further, i want to know their reasoning, they are not telling me something
DreadWingKnight
They aren't telling you that they have no clue how to run a tracker.Recommending versions with known security holes is NOT a good idea.
Firon
It's nonsense to recommend such an old and insecure version.
davexnet
Well, thebox, a private tracker, is now recommending version 1.8.3.Apparently the newer version(s) sends bad or unreliable announcements to the tracker.
DreadWingKnight
That may be newer, but it's still old, unsupported and broken.I'd be more inclined to blame the tracker before uT.
davexnet
I understand what you're saying, they are having some issues right now.Correct me if I'm wrong, but the trend with client development is moving towards facilities to cater to the vast world of public trackers.thebox, and they're not the only private tracker with issues like this, recommend this or that client,or ban others outright from connecting because keeping track of users ratios isimportant to them. Apparently, bad announcements to the tracker makes this impossible and/or causes other problems - hence the recommendations of specific client version(s)They're over there going through all the announce logs trying to sort it out.
