zmin
Hello i have a DSL line with external IP, firewall configured properly and no TOR. I am trying to download a torrent with 460 seeds and 2100 peers (of which 15 seeds and 20 peers connected) but the download speed varies hectically from minimum and rarely to maximum over long periods of time. Also, the incoming icon changes from red to green to blue with no influence on the speed - sometimes it's maxed on red, most time it's minimal on green.I'm sure that my connection is very good and nobody is meddling with it. The upload speed works just fine and is not throttling the download. Could this be a per-torrent related issue? Is there anything i can do to enforce connecting to peers from my country to optimize speed? Thank you.
Switeck
Local peers (same country) are hard to utilize. You could try an ipfilter.dat that blocks everything else...but then if you don't get any local peers, you're screwed!Tell us more about your connection's speeds (down and up) and uTorrent's settings...particularly those listed in the CTRL+G Speed Guide window. zmin
Where could i get a ipfilter to block out all ip's except my country's? My `line is 512kbit upload (2mbit download), but i have to share the upload with other software and limit it variously so it doesn't throttle the download.I'm also sharing the connection via ICS between my desktop an laptop (no router), but the problem is common on both, albeit the different windows operating systems. Thanks again!
Switeck
You have to *MAKE* such an ip list!GOOGLE for how...because it's tedious!Reduce max connections global and per torrent if you've got upload limited really low. Also reduce upload slots per torrent so EACH upload slot on EACH torrent can get >2 KB/sec....Otherwise peers will snub/block you and won't upload back to you.
