Internet stops working

My internet stops working after utorrent has been open for ~30 seconds. I tried most of the suggestions in the utorrent help but I can't seem to fix the problem. This had never happened until I updated to the new version, and now it happens when I try to use an older version as well. I'm running windows 7, using a linksys router, not behind a firewall, and it's not the router. Internet dies even plugged straight into the modem. Any suggestions?

Well, I tried all the recommended settings in your links Switeck, and none of it worked. Although, I did limit my global download rate to about 40% of my maximum and my internet hasn't died. So apparently my problem has something to do with my download rate, but I don't understand why. So far it seems to have fixed the problem, but like I said, my d/l speed is less than half of what it should be.

Edit: It seems I spoke too soon. That didn't actually fix the problem, whatever it may be.

I'm pretty upset about this, to say the least. I have the same problem. After updating, my browser will not go to any websites. IM works, gmail notifier works, but I can't open a webpage. My laptop is "getting" internet, other applications are accessing the net... but no browsers will. This happens if my download and upload rates are high or 0 or anything in between... if utorrent is open, my browsers don't work. Close it, and everything is fine. Running Windows 7, and a Netgear router with ports forwarded. Everything was perfectly fine before the program updated.

The biggest problem is that I didn't put it together initially that utorrent was the problem, and I thought it was some kind of virus.... and formatted my two-month-old laptop... only to reinstall utorrent and find out that the newest version is ****ed and causing the problem. Now I'm having trouble getting the drivers I need for this computer.

Time to switch to a new bittorrent client. You guys broke something that worked perfectly fine. I'm done recommending this client to friends.

Well, the "troubleshooting" here seems to consist of "Do what is says in the FAQ and use the recommended settings". That's not helping any of us. So no, if the idea of help here is "read what's on the site and do it", then I don't want to troubleshoot... because if I hadn't already tried all of that I wouldn't be here.
