Torrents just wont start downloading... weird issues

Ok I have been using utorrent for several years and have never really had any issues. Lately though I have gotten this weird bug where no matter what settings I try the torrents just wont download. Recently I downloaded a lot of stuff, like dozens and probably a hundred files. 95% of it downloaded like normal and then the last 6 files are stuck at 0%. So it was working correctly and now its not. That computer was running win 7 ultimate. I have a router using the tomato firmware with upnp enabled. I even forwarded the port to be sure. I get a green light so it says I have a proper connection. Its like suddenly it wont let me use utorrent. I tried encryption as well and have no reason to believe my ISP is involved. I have a 20/2 connection. I tried uninstalling the program including all my settings and I still get the same exact error. I turned off windows firewall. Nothing seems to work.I reloaded the torrent files and nothing. So I tried it on another computer on the same network and router. This was on vista 64 bit ultimate. I have never had utorrent installed on this computer before. Everything installed correctly. I loaded up the torrents to test them and get the same exact issue. Plenty of seeders and leechers and I am connected to them. I tried the ipv6 to see if that would do anything but nothing. I still have a green light. I tried forwarding that port as well which was a different port and different local ip as the other computer and nothing. Then I uninstalled everything and thought I would try the alpha build. STILL nothing. I use this program all day long every day for years and now it just wont work.

I cant think of any other settings to try. The router with that firmware is so easy to use I dont see how that would do it. Maybe its blocking it somehow but I dont see where.

I tried vuze and it worked perfectly. So its not the files which I already knew.

I tried going back to 1.8.5 and get the same issues.

I dont think UPNP is working it doesnt seem to show up in my router firmware. I also tried port forward like I said but that doesnt work.

Uninstalled went back to 1.7.5 and now it works. I was getting 1Mbit down.

Well I removed everything from the queue several times including the files themselves and folders from the download folder and that had no effect. Using the same exact settings and a different build and it works tells me it has nothing to do with settings. I dont know if its that windows firewall simply doesnt recognize the new .exe of the new builds or that UPNP does not work correctly with the new builds but it would not accept doing a manual port forward although I did not uncheck UPNP from within utorrent so maybe that was why manual port forward wasnt working. I read that the newer build uses a different protocol and that feels like the issue here. Maybe tomato firmware doesnt like that protocol for some reason? I went over all the other settings previously.

I have a similar problem, one of my torrents suddenly stopped when I lost connection to the internet.

I reconnected and eventually managed to get the speed up to about 1 kbps but then it stopped again and wont connect to any peers or seeds.

I've tried the link above but that torrent wouldnt start either

I wasnt sure what you meant because the images you asked for dont match what is available. This is what I thought was relevant.

This is using 1.7.5 because as I said the latest version was the issue. The settings are identical. These are the settings I have used virtually forever.

Oh and this is with a 20 mbit down 2 mbit up but normally I get maybe 3 up.

No charter does not throttle. I have ran that one site that can check. There is none. And the bandwith is not the issue. The torrents simply do nothing. Its not that they are slow its that they just dont work.

Dread if you read my original post I said that I had to switch to an old version because the new version was the issue.

I am pretty sure Charter throttles/disrupts uploading torrents to non-Charter ips:

They may even have a way to spoof Glasnost.

Charter made that list, but it's out of date and Charter I believe screws with seeding...from what I saw about a year ago.

Either way that could not possibly explain why using a different version of utorrent I get normal download speeds. Nor does it explain why the speeds were 0 since there was no speed at all. Thats not throttling thats a total block. And since switching versions fixes it and since I previously and always have had great download and upload speeds that cant possibly be the reason.

uTorrent v2.0, which typically uses more connections (at least UDP ones!) than v1.8.5, may make the throttling/disruption worse...as the criteria for disruption could be number of connections attempted over a short time. It's probably not the cause, like you said, but just something to consider which could be making things worse.

Firon I just want to make sure this is correct before I reinstall it. I had just uninstalled it and if I remember had it delete all settings. I looked and there are no files like that on my drive and the install x86 folder is empty. So I should be ok to reinstall. But are you sure you want me to test 1.8.5 and not the newest?
