Ann Ominous
Windows 2008 R2 with Dlink DFE-538TX (Realtek 8139)Shortly after starting uTorrent, the GUI freezes for up to a couple of minutes, but eventually will respond. If the freeze occurs when downloading, no interruption is seen in the speed graph. However, the networking tab on task manager shows zero activity from uTorrent for the duration of the freeze. The NIC connection is not frozen for any other application, and CPU use is negligible during the freeze. Some other NICs may not exhibit this behaviour as frequently (or at all) but it's hard to say with certainty because there are a lot of other changes as well as the NIC.The freeze/unfreeze behaviour is limited to uTorrent. Ann Ominous
Thought there might be known issues with Widows 2008 R2 and NIC driver stalls, as I've seen some discussion on the topic elsewhere. But I'll do the submission too.
Ann Ominous
Since uT 2.0, I have been able to generate an intermittent freeze on Windows 2008 x32 & x64, 2008 R2 x64 and Windows 7 x64.When the freeze occurs, the uTorrent GUI becomes unresponsive for about a minute and then returns to normal operation. In the bandwidth graph in uTorrent, no break is seen however in Windows Task Manager network traffic drops to zero for the duration of the hang. The freeze appears to repeat at periodic intervals of fixed length. The Windows Task Manager Network tab shows a consistent pattern in a ratio of about 6:50 (frozen:functional, using the vertical ticks of the task manager graph with Windows Task Manager | Update Speed | Low).In uTorrent, the bandwidth upload graph will spike upwards briefly (for a few seconds) after the program unfreezes, presumably due to an artifact in how the bandwidth upload limit is calculated.Other programs are not frozen during this time and the system otherwise behaves normally. So far, uT has always recovered and does not need to be killed.Note that this problem has continued to the latest version (2.0.4).This problems appears similar to:uTorrent freezes after 7-10 seconds on Windows 7 64bit (Repeatable)http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=522284#p522284Utorrent 2.0 Hangs on Windows 7 32 bithttp://www.utorrent.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=71846Freezing/Unfreezing/ReFreezing on Server08 R2http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=522286#p522286
