sominsky Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Hi,I'd love to try uTorrent after all the praise it gets, but I can't. It crashes on startup every single time I try to run it on my PowerBook running OS X 10.5.8.Details:from syslog:12:31:25 21/02/10 uTorrent[62844] Could not find image named 'SplitViewGrabber'. 12:31:25 21/02/10 uTorrent[62844] Could not find image named 'HideStats'. 12:31:25 21/02/10 uTorrent[62844] Could not find image named 'ShowStats.tiff'. 12:31:27 21/02/10 /Applications/uTorrent.app/Contents/MacOS/uTorrent[62844] [62844] stack overflow 12:31:39 21/02/10 ReportCrash[62845] Formulating crash report for process uTorrent[62844] 12:31:43 21/02/10 ReportCrash[62845] Saved crashreport to /Users/sambo/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/uTorrent_2010-02-21-123127_shomron.crash using uid: 502 gid: 20, euid: 502 egid: 20 12:31:41 21/02/10 com.apple.launchd[186] ([0x0-0x9c99c9].com.bittorrent.uTorrent[62844]) Exited abnormally: Abort trap From CrashReporter:Process: uTorrent [62809]Path: /Users/sambo/Desktop/uTorrent.app/Contents/MacOS/uTorrentIdentifier: com.bittorrent.uTorrent3 com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0x00078398 0x1000 + 4883444 com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0x00004ba4 0x1000 + 1526822 com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0x00002bfc 0x1000 + 71643 com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0x00062db8 0x1000 + 4008244 com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0x00063724 0x1000 + 4032362 com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0x00078354 0x1000 + 488276 0x1000 - 0xafffb +com.bittorrent.uTorrent 0.9.2 (17267) <277bd3474693258927ce3dde17a3114e> /Users/sambo/Desktop/uTorrent.app/Contents/MacOS/uTorrent 0xc7000 - 0xdaffb +org.andymatuschak.Sparkle 1.5 Beta 6 (313) <890df6f6a1b32b77720af2a09942449c> /Users/sambo/Desktop/uTorrent.app/Contents/Frameworks/Sparkle.framework/Versions/A/Sparkle
NoOneButMe Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Try redownloading the app and clearing your preferences. Looks like a crash when trying to update (since Sparkle is mentioned).
Chairface Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 I have the same problem, uTorrent 0.9.2 beta build 17267, 10.5.8 on a 1.6GHz G5. It doesn't even get to the point where it creates a file in ~/Library/Preferences, but does create a uTorrent folder in ~/Library/Application Support, with settings.dat and an empty settings.dat.old. Leaving said folder there or deleting it makes no difference, it still crashes every time I try and launch it.0.9.3 alpha launches, but I'm wary of using it until it's a bit more stable.
Firon Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 There are no more planned releases for 0.9.2, so your choices are basically to use 0.9.3 or wait until it hits beta. We'll hopefully hit beta status sometime in March.
Chairface Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 As much as the other clients irritate me, I guess I'll have to stick with something else until 0.9.3 is a bit more stable; the alpha's already crashed 3 times in 10 minutes, just adding/removing torrents.
Firon Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 There are several crash issues that have been fixed since we last made a 0.9.3, so the next one should hopefully be a lot more stable for you.
