rafi
I've tried to setup my router to only forward TCP , and the setup guide test - showed "success". I''m not 100% sure, cause the router might be acting funny and still forward the UDP too. But, since uTP is now active - you should make sure UDP forwarding is tested also in the setup dialog test. When you do the test - you can then - direct the user to specifically fix the UDP or TCP forwarding issue!
Firon
It'll be non-trivial to modify the test for UDP forwarding. It's not quite as essential to fix it for UDP, since it can do NAT hole punching in ways TCP can't.
rafi
Do you mean that I can still use TCP only router forwarding and still get uT fully operational for uTP ? Anyway - here is a site that uses nMap for that . it might be helpful.
Firon
You won't get all the connections you normally would, but you'd still get a good number.

Altmaster
By the same token, when NAT-PMP is used for automatic port forwarding, uTorrent appears to use only TCP for the rule. Assuming it's possible for it to add UDP this way as well, it would be nice to be able to remove my manual forward.
rafi
Are you sure ? What router did you see this on ? If so - it should at least forward "all" protocols or both as you suggests here. I hope Firon tested it, and passed it to the devs .
Firon
I wiresharked it and it definitely tries to map both TCP and UDP. I'll see if it's doing correctly later today.
rafi
great now all it's left is to also test UDP ports in the 'speed guide', sorry, 'setup guide' , so that others can also easily see if it's doing correctly...
Altmaster
Just checked and this time it's mapping TCP and UDP. Not sure what was happening before, but there was definitely only a TCP rule last time. Go figure.Edit: for reference, it's a Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato 1.27.
