ovonrein Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Just a quick heads-up on my experience with upgrading to 2.0 last night. After I completed the upgrade (from 1.8.5), uTorrent immediately stopped to breathe. Nothing in, nothing out. Some digging around this morning showed that after I took down the firewall of my Belkin N Wireless Modem Router F (#F5D8633UK4A), all went back to normal. Following the upgrade, I had somehow ended in a firewalled state. Both router and uTorrent have UPnP enabled. Interestingly, uTorrent continued to breathe even after I re-enabled the firewall (to confirm the problem). All is fine now again. Upshot of the story: you may have to power-cycle your router after upgrading to 2.0.Hope this might help someone.
Switeck Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 UPnP is hopeless on many networking hardware devices.Which is why we recommend manual port forwarding on routers instead and disabling UPnP and NAT-PMP.
ovonrein Posted February 28, 2010 Author Report Posted February 28, 2010 Might have to look into manual port forwarding, Switek. Has the UPnP code changed in 2.0? There's definitely a problem. Half way thru the day, uTorrent stopped breathing again. That did not happen on 1.8.5. Odd.
Switeck Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 v1.8.5 didn't use UDP very heavily...at least till recently when lots of v2.0 clients started appearing which use outgoing uTP (UDP) peers/seeds by default.
