RaVeN
A Button to make settings go back to the original default....hard to walk a noob through something over the phone...when they mess with the settings....even redownloading utorrent, doesn't make anything go back to default.... Ultima
Deleting the settings.dat isn't that hard though... is it?
RaVeN
Not if I don't know where it is....not to mention a default button is that much easier....
Ultima
http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#Where_are_the_settings_and_.torrent_files_stored.3FThe settings.dat will always be in %appdata%\utorrent or in the same folder as the .exe file. RaVeN
%AppData%\uTorrent is where....if I download the .exe on the desktop....it doesnt appear on the desktop
Ultima
http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#What_is_AppData.3FI guess a default button would make things a little easier, but I don't think it'd be easier by much. Deleting the settings.dat is quick and painless =]Also, previously, people were unable to access µTorrent (crash on open) until they deleted their settings.dat, so if people got used to resetting from within the GUI, they'll be lost if such a thing occurs. Easier to learn now than panic later ;P
Nefarious
well... deleting the settings.dat also deletes the statistics, so is not exactly the best way out of the problem
Ultima
Well ask yourself this... which is more important, statistics, or the ability to run µTorrent? =P
Nefarious
ammm... tought one, okok running utorrent, but still it should delete the statistics...ohh, ohhh, better yet, can someone tell me which part contains the statistics in .dat?shouldnt statistics be in resume.data? i mean, its resuming the data xD
Ultima
Yeah, settings.dat contains the statistical data. I'm not sure if resume.dat should contain it either, since the file seems volatile... maybe a separate file (oh boy... yet another file to worry about xP) would do... Not a big deal though, I can live with resetting my statistics =P
RaVeN
While you guys finally figure out to make a default button....I finally looked at that app data folder...and damn....every single torrent i've every downloaded....guess I really didn't delete them.... StoicJester
you have to select "remove and delete torrent file" to delete the torrent
Ultima
@RaVeN: Other clients also copy torrents over, you just didn't know either ;P

1c3d0g
RaVeN: negative. I've just deleted a torrent myself, and upon selecting the torrent, right-clicking on it, selecting Remove And ▶ Delete .torrent + Data, everything that had to be removed got deleted (including the one in %AppData%). I'm not sure what kind of problems you're dealing with, but this is a non-issue with Build 428. I suggest you test it again. :/
