Ckaz Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 So I get a download speed of around 500kb/s, but for some reason my upload speed never goes higher than 4kb's. I tried putting a cap on my download speed. First I tried setting the limit at 200kb, then 100kb, then 50kb, but my upload speed still averaged at around 1kb/sI have the green check mark indicating that my network is ok and I have forwarded the port properly. I have UPNP and NAT disabled in utorrent, as well as on my router. I am using a private tracker, so the tracker is not the issue.Any suggestions? My router is the D-Link DIR-655, and I have the latest firmware
Switeck Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 It's possible that's due to ISP throttling.Shaw victims:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=63639http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=64953http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=66589And/or it may be due to uTorrent v2.x bugs and bad uTorrent settings. For that, 1st link in my signature.Or because private trackers often have few/no peers to upload to.
Ckaz Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 Alright well I tried all of the guides in your sig, but none of them worked. Also, I tried a test to see if Shaw was throttling my connection, but the test sort of froze, and I have yet to re-try it. What I did notice was that in utorrent, I'm connected to 60/80 seeds (124 in swarm), but I am connected to 1/71 peers (6 in swarm).Could my low peer connection be the cause of my low upload speed? And is there a way to fix it?
Switeck Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 If the peers download EXTREMELY quickly from other seeds and become seeds themselves, then you won't be able to upload much to them. That's just the way things work.
Ckaz Posted March 11, 2010 Author Report Posted March 11, 2010 so does that mean I will never have a fast upload speed? Because this happens with all torrents I try and download.Because there have been times where I have downloaded a torrent a friend recommended to me. So I would download the torrent, and have fast download speeds, but still very slow upload speeds, where as my friend reported getting normal upload speedsAlso, usually I have around 1.5kb/s upload rate, but when seeding, once the download has finished, my upload rate drops to 0.2kb/s. Why is that?
Switeck Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Does your friend happen to use Shaw Cable in close proximity to you?If so, I'd expect they'd get low upload speed as well...at least some of the time.
Ckaz Posted March 11, 2010 Author Report Posted March 11, 2010 no he doesn't. But again, is the problem that I'm not connecting to enough peers? And is there any way I can fix that? Sorry if you answered this earlier and I just didn't understand what you said. I am really appreciating your help here.it also might be worth mentioning that under "trackers" its saysDHT Not AllowedLocal Peer Discovery Not AllowedPeer Exchange Not Allowedand then the actual tracker from the site I am using is working.
