maxbear Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Hello,I am using a Linksys rounter with 100mbps up and down connection. I tried the speed guide, but it gave me very extreme values. My current setting is like this:Global Maximum upload rate: 1500Alternative upload rate......: 5Global Maximum download rate: 0Global Maximum number of connections: 1000Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 100Number of upload slots per torrent: 5Maximum number of active torrents: 15Maximum number of active downloads:15Actually, I have lower the values compare with what I used to use. Since I found that sometimes, I can't surf the web. I already upgrade the router firmware and patch it with the startup script.Any suggestion?
Vectorferret Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Your sure your internet connection is 100 mbps?! Or just your connection to the router? A 100 Mbps internet connection, although possible is going to cost extrordinary amounts of money.
maxbear Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 Yes, I am sure. It's 100mbps to the internet.
streetstopper Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 possible that the communication to and from the puter and the switch is 100Mbps.but not sure that between the router and the ISP it's 100Mbps...unless your connection is between a T3 (45Mbps) and T4 (274Mbps).

A 100 Mbps internet connection, although possible is going to cost extrordinary amounts of money.Depends och country and ISP.Here in Sweden its pretty normal with 10/10 Mbit and they are now upgrading their network to 10/100 Mbit for most users. For thoose speeds we pay 320 SKR or $40/33€.
Vectorferret Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Wow. That's gotta be optical lines to each user. Fastest here in Canada is 5 mbps.
shadek Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Yeah, optical lines. The cities in Sweden will be covered completely with optical lines for each user within 5 years. 100/10 (down/up) is very common these days.90% of the swedish population has access to 8/0.8 (down/ up) Mbit.
twinlight Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Wow. That's gotta be optical lines to each user. Fastest here in Canada is 5 mbps. Its normal ethernet between the appartment and the basement. In the basement there is a few switches and they are then usually connected with 2.5 Gbit to the city network. They are then connected with 5-10 Gbit with other city networks. For other consumers there is ADSL / VDSL between 8 and 24 Mbit download for about the same cost.
joppe Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 are you sure your router can handle 100mbps? not all can.mine routes does ~70mbps (100mbps in sweden as many of my friends). no problem with µtorrent though.
