andrejk
I'm downloading torrent with 14 files but overall torrent availability is below 1.0.It would be nice to have special download mode in which will uTorrent start downloading the particular file only if it's current availability is at lease 1.0,so it's possible that this file could be downloaded.I think it could save some bandwidth... Ultima
Yeah but sometimes people seed if they see enough peers waiting for a file... meaning it's not always a waste of bandwidth to start a download, and may even help get some seeds back... I can see where you're going with this, though.
DreadWingKnight
and just because you don't see the availability, it doesn't mean it's not there.
Nefarious
superseeders dont appear as 1.0 availavility also

I can see where you're going with this, though.Well, it's possible that some people will seed if there is demand, but it's only particular solution of my problem. If there is no such filantropist I'll end with lot of partialy downloaded (read useless) files. I just sometimes want not to download parts of torrent that are unreachable at this time. And I just hate to end like this::/
Ultima
Yeah but as mentioned above, superseeds don't appear to have all data -- in fact, to anyone connecting to them, they appear to have only one piece.
Nefarious
u could try to find another way to complete the torrent, like finishing files (this is easier when is just a single file) by emule or shareaza or another .torrent, then u could help the one that got seedless by seeding it back, still downloading only when there is availavility hurts the swarm, as believe it or not, there may be other peers that have parts u dont, i usually let my torrent open even if it is stuck, as sometime later it will complete anyway
Ultima
Exactly. Someone I knew had a torrent that was 99.7% complete open for about 3 weeks, and every week, the percentage went up about 0.1. He finished it in the end... though I dont' know if you have that kind of patience ;P
andrejk
Yes, superseeds are special. But - superseeder seeds block only once, but the receiver seeds block back as normal seeder, doesn't he? So the block doesn't disappear and thus is visible.I just suggested this as option, not default behaviour...
Nefarious
not good in my oppinion, if everyone would do that, then perhaps there would be not even people connected in the .torrent, then seed wouldnt be interested in seeding a .torrent that no one wants thus hurting the swarm.or even people that have parts that would complete the parts you dont have wouldnt connect cauze they would see no people connected to the torrent and seeing they would not finish their files like that, in the end torrent dies, cauze no one connected even having the potential to finish it all along
