Ultima
Does it time out when you manually grab the file from your browser?
roytam1
No. Tested with different sites and different browser including IE, chrome, and Firefox.Browsers always work and uTorrent always fails.Forgot to mention: RSS feed is working with some sites, but adding downloads from feed fails. Ultima
Gotta wonder if your ISP or firewall is blocking µTorrent...http://www.mediafire.com/?dmgnbjddowwDoes this torrent work? It uses webseeds only. And do trackers work either?
roytam1
Your torrent works. WebSeed and (HTTP) trackers are working. But for example I add http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4964544/OpenOffice.org_3.1_Final__F_.4964544.TPB.torrent in uTorrent, it just timeout. If I add http://borft.student.utwente.nl/~adrian/torrentphp/torrent.php/OOo_3.2.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe.torrent (link from http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ ) in uTorrent, sometimes it says "Invalid HTTP response". Ultima
Not sure what to say then. If it works intermittently, then chances are, it's something not controlled by µTorrent that's causing the problem. When did this start happening?
roytam1
The time... I can't remember, but the last time I use Add from URL is uTorrent 1.8.5 from WebUI, after I upgraded to 2.0 and I found that torrent links from torrent sites no longer added from WebUI and I tried doing the same in uTorrent Window but getting same result. But I can confirm 1.7.7 works.I have a test machine in same LAN with 1.7.7, 1.8.5 and 2.0, 1.7.7 always works while 1.8.5 and 2.0 fails.Screenshot a few minutes ago:When I using a HTTP (GET) proxy, from the proxy log(Common Log Format) I can see that new uTorrent act strangely:192.168.123.148 - - [28/Mar/2010:23:08:27 +0800] "GET http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4964544/OpenOffice.org_3.1_Final__F_.4964544.TPB.torrent HTTP/1.1" 0192.168.123.148 - - [28/Mar/2010:23:10:45 +0800] "GET http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4964544/OpenOffice.org_3.1_Final__F_.4964544.TPB.torrent HTTP/1.1" 200 11480The upper is request from 1.8.5 and the lower is from 1.7.7.The last two columns is HTTP status and content size, newer uTorrent don't get anything while older uTorrent do. Ultima
This behavior so far hasn't struck me as outside the realm of possible ISP interference through user-agent detection.Perhaps not so coincidentally, I think starting from 1.8.x, µTorrent's HTTP user-agent was changed from uTorrent/xxxx to BTWebClient/xxxx. Are you able to use that proxy to rewrite the header for the HTTP request? If so, then please try rewriting the user-agent from BTWebClient/2000 to uTorrent/1770 and see if the requests continue to fail.
roytam1
The above did try rewriting User Agent to Mozilla/4.0. Without rewriting, same result occurs (last night). But I can't reproduce the issue at this moment, maybe this is a small glitch in HTTP torrent fetcher that was self recovered.
