Loomy
As of lately I have noticed a huge amount of overhead in Utorrent. If i am seeding 4 torrents in utorrent, it says my upload is 45kB/s while my download is ~7kB/s. When i go into my bandwidth monitor, my total upload for Utorrent is 75kB/s and my download is 25kB/s.I have gone through every thread in every subforum on this website, and no suggestion thus far has helped the issue in any way. For a "Very Tiny" torrent client, the overhead is huge.
we1dont7die
I too am having the same issue. I am seeding 5 torrents on a 1.5mb uplink connection and getting 25-30kB/s Upload Overhead. I am downloading ONE torrent on a 18mb/s downlink and the overhead is 20 kB/s. ...Why so much OVERHEAD? It's adding up fast.DHT is OffPeer Disc. Offwebui offBandwidth management OffuPnP OffNever had this problem before the the newest betas.
Switeck
uTorrent v2.0.1 generating 20-30% overheads when using uTP...but less than 10% overheads when using TCP alone:http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9993/ulutptcp3ping.pngSee this also for more details: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=72106
we1dont7die
Is it normal for the upload overhead to be TWICE as much as the upload?? In the picture i have only 1 torrent running yet there is alot of overhead. Any suggestions other than what I said I've done?
Switeck
Actually, I'm surprised upload overhead isn't *HIGHER* than 60 KB/sec!You are after all downloading faster than that...
Ultima
The overhead counted in the upload section counts overhead for both upload and download. Yes, when you download, you still need to upload packets to say "I got this chunk of data". The more quickly you download, the more such packets you need to send. we1dont7die
arent those packets you send counted in the DL overhead? now im more confused...?
Switeck
Packets you send outward are UPLOAD, therefore they're upload overheads. That they are caused by downloading doesn't change that.
Ultima
Download overhead is network overhead that is incoming. It doesn't matter what the purpose of the incoming packets are -- if they're network overhead, and they're incoming, they're counted under the download overhead.Similarly, upload overhead is for any outgoing packets that are network overhead -- not part of the BitTorrent payload. Loomy
Ok, im currently uploading at 45KB/s and not downloading anything, but U-Torrent is using 20KB/s of my download bandwidth. I have already done every fix even remotely similar to the issue im having and none of them have done anything to help.Is this a common issue? we1dont7die
Thanks for clearing it up for me i think im understanding now. I notice when i lower the # of connected peers the overall download speed drops but there is less overhead. Guess we will just have to deal with it. Switeck
Loomy, is UPnP, NAT-PMP, DHT, or Local Peer Discovery active in uTorrent? Also, is Teredo/IPv6 active in windows and being used by uTorrent?
Loomy
UPnP is on, Nat-PMP, DHT, and local peer discovery is off. i have tried turning off IPv6 off and it made no difference.
Switeck
What's bt.connect_speed and net.max_halfopen set to?
we1dont7die
Switeck...I see Teredo active in the upnp list of my router. I havnt heard anyone say that that could be disabled to lower overhead. How do I do this?Edit: well i found out HOW to do it but cant find out if i SHOULD do it. should i? Switeck
If you know how to reinstall Teredo, why not try without it?
we1dont7die
what i was asking is do i really need it enabled (teredo) if i am using a v4 ip? I have disabled it and see no difference really but am wondering if any important functionality with utorrent is lost.
Switeck
You lose access to the ever-growing numbers of IPv6 seeds and peers, which may be unreachable otherwise.
