how to configure torrent .....and settings

sm1 help me

I USE VISTA HOME PREMIUMI am on a network(college dorm),port forwarding is not possible as we have a dsl router and password model no all are owned by college and we have 154 users and have 1MB/s connection

speed test shows 0.45 dl and o.61 up speeds and it varies betwen 0.34 dl and 0.45 ul

I treid setting torrent refeering the above and tried half open 100, 80 and sometimes 50

max dl speed goes 100 wen users are low and wen users are max it is 10 to 2...and keeps on uploading at around 25 ul...tried lvlord patch but error saying "cannt load file or copy/ antvrs shows warning virtool...smething.... smething... detected " edited registry and set num.max connection 70000 dns .local host ..many other still no good..tried tweak and many other 4rm google directed sites....i carefully choose my torrents <seeds,peers.ratio and trackers > still no good

currnet setting <512KB/S, UPLOAD limt kept at 40, UP PORT at 4 ......SM1 HELP ME GET AT LEAST 40 TO 80 KB/S...wenever i install patch for tcpip its says cannot load or elevation required....all confusing stuff plizzzz help to get max speed out of 1mb/s connection on a network with lots of users plizzz help me with a setting to get at least 40 min and max 80 download speed

Were your speed tests done while all other internet activity on your entire connection was stopped?

(The results were awfully low. )

If net.max_halfopen was set to 80, are you running Windows Vista SP1 or SP2?

(It's a bit high for normal use -- we recommend lowering it if there's problems.)

Firstly, you don't have a 1 megabit/second connection as far as uTorrent is concerned.

Looks more like 0.6-0.7 mbit/sec upload at best.

Use either the 512 or 640 kbit/sec upload settings from 2nd link in my signature.

(About all that chages between the 2 is upload speed max from 47 to 60 KiloBYTES/second.

1.Hacking the half open limit of windows is not necessary for Vista and NOT recommended for other Windows versions!

2.False positive!

3.No, that torrent is only for TESTING SPEEDS...you don't have to use it in any other way!

4.net.max_halfopen = 8 is the default setting, leave it that!

Reduce bt.connect_speed to 2.

hey ...1 more qstion today I HAVE installed windows 7 professional and wen I LOOKED the announement I DOWNLOADED utorrent-2.1-beta-19225.upx but it wouldn't install so I tried troubleshooting and it worked ..

is it not compatable with w7 (no doubt wen I TRIED tried to install it lagged for about 20secs )

any....lead -

and thanks 4 the guidance before now my downloading speed is 30-49kb/s its low with compared to download lords here on this forum but I AM SMILING NOWW

uTorrent v2.1 has proved rather buggy as of late, especially on Win 7.

It should get better, and quickly, but I don't recommend running it on Win 7.

Use either v2.0 or v2.0.1 instead.
