utorrent crashes my internet connection to 0.

Hi guys,

I've had this problem since many months ago.... When using utorrent (whichever version is) and a web browser like firefox, while im posting in a forum (for example) my internet drops to 0!!

My ISP is telmex, i didn't have this problem a year ago aprox.

I've already followed the steps to fix this issue (posted here http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992#p258231 ) but none of them fix the problem.

What can i do?

Easy way is to just unplug and plug the internet cable. It interrupts uTorrent traffic and should take the problem away FOR A WHILE.

But what about those others?

I don't remember seeing anything about C-Media Electronics Inc. before.

c media electronics are the audio drivers for my omega striker 7.1 they are NOT causing the issue nor Avast.

The issue is more likely to happen when im downloading a torrent and surfing at the same time.

hey could it be my linksys network adapter? however i don't remember having problems under xp.

It could be the adapter, if the driver is broken on Windows 7. But I'd imagine that Avast! is a much more likely candidate.

No i can uninstall avast and the problem is still there, no the driver is not broken i have had this issue since months and during that time i've reinstalled windows many times.

What it could be? i think is that the linksys driver are very bad programmed...i don' trust linksys however it could be windows 7 too.

update: apparently im not having problems with the router connected directly to the pc.....so......can we safely conclude that the linksys adapters are the ones to blame?

update 2: well i've already ordered a tplink one so ill wait till arrives.

update 3: it arrived but the bloo3$# problem is still i think the one to blame is utorrent im afraid....maybe azerus will solve my "issue".

Psiko, I don't have a solution, but your issue does sound alot like mine. I'm also using Firefox, W7 and the latest uTorrent, but I have a Netgear router/cablemodem. I think it's DNS issues you're experiencing just like I do.

Edit: The problem isn't related to Firefox because with the "loss" of DNS, no program using the Internet connection will work, be it FF, IE or else.

Hi Daemon, no i still have the same problem, when my connection crash i have no internet for any of my sotware.

Have you tried Azureus? i don't like that sofware but it could help to solve if the one to blame is your router or utorrent...

I would first try another client and see what that does. I like Opera's build in bittorrent client for testing because it doesn't have a single configuration setting. http://opera.com Just don't expect a browser to be a full blown client

Vuze is also a good test client, specially good for stress testing your computer.

Opera's BitTorrent client throws up more errors in uTorrent's logger window for me than almost any other client. It tries to reconnect to me when it's already connected and tries to download from me when it's choked.

Im using VUZE right now...still the same problem. when im trying to use firefox on certain sites like this forum the internet connection drops to 0 for a few seconds...

can i blame windows 7 now?, whe i was using XP i didn't have this problem.

Exact same problem here..

I will explain mine a bit too: I recently changed from 10mb to 110mb connection. As torrent clients I've tried Vuze, uTorrent and BitComet; browsers: IE8, Chrome, Firefox. Effect is all the same. Whenever there is even one active download (or upload) browsers stop functioning. Other connections can function too, like MSN or Skype. I've tried different settings for torrent clients. I limited upload speed, amount of connections, even did port forward, etc. If i close the torrent client (or pause all downloads) then browsers start to function again. The thing is when i had 10mb connection everything worked fine, now download speeds are faster but browsers don't work..

I would highly appreciate any advice!

Did you disable DHT, Resolve IPs, UPnP, NAT-PMP, uTP, and even Teredo?

Well i configured utorrent according to this:

it has worked more or less so far (only 1 choke).

Be careful KB are not the same as kb, to know you upload speed in KB use speedtest.net but set preferences to KB.

Hi, well it is semi-fixed now. What i did was steps B/C, port forwarded. DHT and bandwidth management disabled, installed and then disabled Toredo/IPv6 through ssh. At least now browsers do work, they do show sometimes some lags and some pages do not load full instantly. Which works for me with download speed up to 5,6mb. Thanks guys!
