adrangers
Very recently Utorrent has been slowing down my internet. The DL speeds dont suffer but my internet does. This didnt happen when i used bitcomet but did when i used Azures many months before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The Mighty Buzzard
Might try capping your upload speed a little bit lower, assuming you have manually capped it or used the speed guide. If not, that's the problem right there.
Ultima
Patch TCPIP.SYS.
adrangers
I have the up speed down from unlimited to 20 and its working ok. But i also have to restrict my download speed which i dont want to do. Is there any other suggestions. If not ill just have to learn to live with slow downloads. adrangers
Patch TCPIP.SYS.What is that. How do i get it.
Ultima
It would seem that your problem has been solved after lowering the upload... Use the Speed Guide to set the correct limit. If you still want to patch (even though it's not necessary if you're no longer having any problems), then here it is:http://www.lvllord.de/Reboot after patching, and increase your net.max_halfopen as well to about 80% of the number you set in the patch. adrangers
Thanks but that didnt do much. Maybe i didnt install it right.
Ultima
If download speed saturation is your problem, then there's nothing much you can do other than to limit it, or get cFosSpeed.
The Mighty Buzzard
Oooooh, get cFosSpeed. It's like the lovechild of QoS and renice! You probably don't know much about either of those though so take my word for it that it kicks much in the way of ass.
Firon
Your upload cap should be 70-80% of your max by the way.
Ultima
And running the Speed Guide (as I said above) should set it correctly =]
BlackLion
LOLOL @ Mighty Buzz LOL nice......@ adrangers:capping upload (see Firon's post for numbers) is the easiest way to smooth bting and CFosSpeed is like the cherry on top, if you happen to be the possessor of a usb modem I feel for you, upload saturation is MUCH worse for those things....I had the misfortune of having one back in the day....they sucked then and they suck now.... Ultima
And the numbers (70-80%) aren't needed if (once again) you use the Speed Guide O.O
adrangers
Is there a way to unstall the Patch TCPIP.SYS. I think it is causing my computer to crash. I dont need it since i got the other program
Ultima
It doesn't cause the computer to crash... Anyway, you can uninstall by using the patch again -- it'll ask you if you want to revert.
adrangers
Thank You. Its not just that. It wasnt working for me with the new version anyway.
Klyith
Adrangers - Do you connect to your cable / dsl modem directly, or do you have some sort of router & nat firewall? If the latter, it probably has an option to turn on Quality of Service (QoS). It is fairly easy to use that to put web (HTTP) traffic at a higher priority than bittorrent or other P2P traffic. This will solve your problem.Oooooh, get cFosSpeed. It's like the lovechild of QoS and renice! You probably don't know much about either of those though so take my word for it that it kicks much in the way of ass. That's an interesting product, I'd never seen it before. Though I don't know that it would be any more effective than normal QoS for adrangers. By "slow internet" I assume he means HTTP, in which case just using QoS with a low priority on bittorrent would take care of things. HTTP requests and responses get bumped to the front, problem solved.cFos does look interesting for anyone who does a lot of high-bandwidth dl/ul in a single protocol. And I don't know if it recognizes the acks for bittorrent itself, but if it did it would have the potential to speed up your bt dls. Plus the idea of dedicated ack traffic shaping makes me think of the hilarious optimistic ack attack.
Ultima
cFos is basically a software QoS manager, and would be especially helpful if adrangers' modem/router didn't include a built-in QoS manager. I'm pretty sure it supports BitTorrent =P(I've thought about using cFosSpeed, but my computer isn't the only one on the network that uses BitTorrent, so using it would be pointless... too bad my stupid router doesn't have a QoS manager =T)
Firon
it's application-based, so it can prioritize a bit more effectively than a router
