beatrice_otter Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I downloaded a file last week. Nothing about my computer has changed in the meantime. Yet when I try to dl now, I get this error message: "Unable to save torrent to 'C:\Program Files\uTorrent\Doctor Who S05E02 The Beast Below.torrent'."I've tried telling it to save to different locations, and I always get the same message (including the same file path). What's going on here?
moogly Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 You can't save something in Program Files if you don't run as admin, and the UAC should open a dialog box to allow that. You have to store the .torrent files in %appdata%\utorrent or another directory on your HDD like your Documents e.g.).Verify the directory set in Preferences > Directories to store the .torrents is reachable and not Program Files. And don't run uTorrent as standalone in Program Files.
beatrice_otter Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 I've gone into Preferences to change it there, and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you! What's weird though, is that no settings anywhere on my computer were changed between last week when I downloaded a torrent with no problems, and this week when I tried. No idea what made the difference. Also, I tried changing the location it saved to in the Save As dialogue box, and I have no idea why that didn't work. Thanks again for your help!
