Teach1 Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 I need help understanding this. I was attempting to download 2 older movies simultaneously. Knowing that it would take a long time, I went out to run some errands. When I got back the movies were both showing 100.0% but with an error - (some files missing). I clicked on the top file and what popped up alarmed me. All of my private files in "Documents" (Windows 7) were displayed. Does this mean that these files were being sent out to the swarm indiscriminately? If so this is definitely a serious issue. Could someone shed some light on this for me. I would appreciate the input.
moogly Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 µTorrent is not like Kazaa. You share only the files relative to the active torrent jobs loaded in the µT window, that's all.Nobody can access to the rest of the directory or partition.
Nefarious Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 When the directory is not in the place you set the download, utorrent automatically takes you to the documents folder and that's it. utorrent probably couldn't read/find the directory where you were downloading to and did just that
DreadWingKnight Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 BitTorrent clients don't operate on a shared folder mechanism like kazaa or emule do.
